Enhanced Data Model

For migrating a solution and the site I dit enable the enhanced datamodel, remade the page because this is not automated.

When exporting the solution to an environment I got the notifications of missing dependencies to the adx_webrole table

the only available webrole was the mspp_webrole.

For testing purposes I made a new environment, made an power page, then upgraded the environment to the Enhanced data model.

The creation of the page in the environment seemed to have made the needed table.

The table can not be added to the solution without any other errors.

This feature is in preview but this seems to be an crucial topic?

Hi @Vitss,

generally speaking yes. But it depends what flows and tables you are using. For example you will have two tables for webrole one adx_webrole and one mspp_webrole. Make sure that you use the mspp_ tables for the enhanced data model page. Yet as this is a new feature which is also in preview you will face some bugs here and there and maybe will need to rewrite flows from adx_ to mspp_.

As your prod should be a managed solution you should not face any strong issues when testing the page properly and not making adjustments to the prod envr. directly.

One thing you can also do is to import adx_ and mspp_ tables inside one solution and import export them. Some tables currently don't have mspp_, example users, so you will work with "old" tables and the "new" tables.

Hope that helps.

Hi @Vitss,

are you using the pipeline feature to move your power pages to other environments?

What we faced is similar. Our solution was to create a blank power page in the you envr to get all the tables needed.

adx_ tables refer to the power portals mspp_ to the new power pages. did you create your power page before enabling the enhanced data model? You can view your data model in the power pages settings.

what you can otherwise is create an envr. create a power portal which leads to the creation of your adx_ tables and after that switch to the enhanced data model.

I did not used pipelines, not familiar with them (yet).

I did use the export and import solution.

The solution itself was indeed to create a blank page before enabling the enhanced data model.

It is a bit confusing because I am new in power pages, the portals are renamed for a while at the moment.

New powerpage should not refer to adx table as I do understand it correct?

allthou it seems to be enhanced to mspp_ and standard datamodel to adx_.

It should be redirected when 'updating' to enhanced data model.

what are the risks for prod environment?

Hi! Could it be that with mspp_ tables (virtual), many-to-many relationships cannot be set?
I was using the contact <--> web role relationship in my previous portal, but when trying the enhanced data model, I noticed this relationship is not set by default as with standard tables.

What I noticed is that not all system tables are made automatically.  While making the solution before upgrading to Enhanced there where made mspp_ tables after upgrade but the flows where still referencing to the adx_tables.

upgrading to enhanced requires some thinking when not changing the linking to the old tables.

You need to make an old page/portal before upgrade so the different are made and the adx_tables exist after uograding.

I created a first site on two separate environments this week. It's been over a year since I created a portal and was not aware of the new Enhanced Data Model being enabled by default.
Everything looked normal at first until I realized I had no N:N relationship between Contacts and Web Roles. This was the same for both environments.
The only thing I noticed was that the sites was setup quicker than normal. (~5 min)
I suspected that maybe something was not setup properly so I activated a second site in one environment which took about 20 min to get ready. After that I got the N:N contact and Web Role.

Comparing my two separate environments shows that one only has mspp_webrole table installed and the other environment where I activated a second site has both mspp_webrole and adx_webrole tables.

I only used Starter Layout templates which uses enhanced data model.

I suspect both mspp_webrole and adx_webrole should be installed with enhanced data model but there could be an issue and one should be aware of how long it takes to activate the site.
