Converting Word file to PDF

I gave up trying to convert a created word file in my share Point folder. But what I have so far is the word document populated with my template.

My question is?

Is possible to have a flow that check for a new file created in my Share Point Folder with extension *.docx and name file start with PO..... to be converted to PDF?

Sorry could be adding more stuff but I don't want to deal with the connector convert word to PDF.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Regards

@sajarac

What trigger do you want to use?

If you use a SharePoint Get Files properties only action, you can use an OData filter that will only return files that meet your specification (let me know if you need an example).

Can you explain further what you want to do after you find the files?

Thank you very much for your response.

Currently I have a flow that takes my JSON data from my PowerApps and using the Word Business I have populated a word template. after that the word generated file is saved in the Shared Documents in my Share Point site.

What I would like is to have a copy of the same file in the same spot but a PDF version.

In this topic you have take a look of my flow:

thanks in advance

@sajarac

When you say it's not working, does it generate an error?  If so, can you post the error?

Hello,

Yes it generates an error trying to generate the file in the Share Point Shared Documents.

Hi there @ScottShearer

I have been playing for days and days without any luck.

Would you mind to give me an advice here?

I have my flow and I can produce my word document from a template, so far so good. My document is generated in the path / folder where I need it.

I would like to create a PDF version of the same file same name same path, and I am going mental.

Any idea please?

@sajarac

Please post a screen shot of your Flow.

As far as I know, you need to purchase a third party connector to convert a Word document to a PDF format.  The exception is if you save the file to OneDrive and use the OneDrive Convert file ation.

Thank you very much for your prompt response.

I had my suspicions that the easy way was to use a third party company, I did it once trying the 30-day trial of plumsail connector and it was very easy, but with word business it is a pain in the neck.

Thanks again for your responses. I guess I will convert those files manually.

For anyone who faces this issue in future, do try this

Option 1 [using 'Name' dynamic content]:

bhumika_0-1606407377885.png

"Location": The SharePoint site

"File": Provide the path from the "Documents" folder (or your Document Library location), until the file.

For example, if the full path is "/Shared Documents/Documents/<FolderA>/<filename.docx>", then put it as:

/FolderA/<"Name" dynamic content>

Option 2 [using 'Path' dynamic content]:

Web capture_26-11-2020_224031_india.flow.microsoft.com.jpeg

"Location": The SharePoint site

"File": replace(outputs('Save_the_file_in_SharePoint')?['body/Path'], '/Shared Documents', '')

Option 2 is less error-prone so I'd prefer that!

Hope this helps 🙂
