The filename variable appears as Base64 on the Power Automate web portal but in the Power Automate iphone App, the filename variable appears as a Filnamn variable.

Hi,

Can I just check - why are you updating the file with what looks like the existing content when the file trigger is for when a file is updated(which then will trigger again)?

You should be able to skip that whole step if you are only looking for a notification of when a file was updated:

Thanks,

Sancho

I have two flows.
I have two OneDrive accounts that both has a folder named ”Delathola”
The first flow syncs new files(When I save a new file to the ”Delathola” folder on my School OneDrive, then the flow syncs to the Delathola folder on my private OneDrive by creating a new file in the private OneDrive folder. )
My second flow(this flow) syncs changes to already synced files.

Hi,

I tried to recreate this and then I used compose actions to find out what the values for file name and file path were - the problem is that it's looking for the unique file ID of the second file, not the file path.

So .. we can list all files in the secondary location, then insert a condition on the name of the file (which will wrap itself into an Apply to Each) then check if that file name equals the first location's file name, if yes then update the file using the File ID of the second file (under list all files)

I've highlighted each reference as a separate colour - references to File location 1 in green and to file location 2 in red:

image.png

Also make sure that the Connection your List Files is using is the connection to your secondary data source.

Could you try this and let me know if that works for you?

Thanks,

Sancho

I tested further and I can see why it keeps reverting to base64ToString - it tries to use the base64 value

So we create a compose action to convert the item from base64 to string and use that compose in the condition:

base64ToString(triggerOutputs()['headers']['x-ms-file-name-encoded'])

Should I test the both?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by test both - your Flow should look something like what I posted and you will need to use the Base64 expression to have it get the proper ID

Hi,

As I mentioned, I found out why Base64 was being used, so yes the second one is the updated Flow that should be used,

Kind Regards,

Sancho

My new problem solved when I edited the flow in the ios app so now Iam done with the update! Will Test run it later today!

The Flow worked when I test runned it earlier today, but now I want to change it up a bit!

How to make the Flow update the file only if filename of the OneDrive is same as filename of the One Drive For Bussines file(School OneDrive) AND content in the School Drive file is NOT THE SAME AS the file content in the Private Drive file?

In that case I would use List files twice, one on each directory, then an apply to each to get each file name, then get the content and finally a third apply with a Condition, and have it check if the file content of the one is not equal to the file content of the other, if yes then update

Hello 3 months late!
Can you please send a screenshot of how the solution in the message above this message would look like?

Hi,

I unfortunately don't have the time to create this in Power Automate due to work constraints.

The rough concept is as follows:

Cheers,

How to apply it to a flow that looks like this?:

When file is modified

Get file content

School OneDrive actions above.

Personal OneDrive actions below

Compose
List files in folder

Add to each
Inside Add to each:

Condition

if Name = Output from the  Compose action

if yes:                 If no:

Update file.         Nothing

End of Inside Add to each
