How can I sort the output of the Power Automate flow before writing to Excel? I have an export to Excel function that generates output without {:””}; however, it is not sorted based on the input in OnSelect.

Hi , @ericasalcedo

Thanks for your response! I test it in my side , it can open a new tab in my browser:

vyueyunmsft_0-1718333998344.jpeg

Can you try to use the Lauch() function in your Power Apps side or you can first save and re-open your Power App to test?

If this reply can help you , you can click mark this reply as solution (Accept solution) which can help more people, thanks in advance!

Hi , @ericasalcedo

Column sorting in Power App is sorted by the first character by default and can't be changed. If you want to change the sorting of columns imported into excel, you'll need to do so in Power Automate side.

vyueyunmsft_0-1718157149598.png

item()?['Your Field Name']

In the approaches without Parse JSON, the fields I need to add are not in the choices in Dynamic Content.
ericasalcedo_0-1718244909990.png

The approach with Parse JSON is showing the options. However, the columns in the Excel output are not sorted according to what was set in Create CSV table and is showing {:""} JSON format.

Hi, @ericasalcedo

That's because the value you're passing in from Power Apps into flow is {Value:"xxx"}.

First method, you can update your Power App side code to pass the Text instead of the Record data.

Second method, you can directly try to use the expression in flow and you do not need to use the dynamic content.

vyueyunmsft_0-1718246359548.png

item()?['Employee']?['DisplayName']

If this expression can not work , you can also try to use this expression:

json( string( item()?['Employee']) )?['DisplayName']

If you cannot solve the issue , you can give me your output of "Power Apps V2" action in your flow run history.

If this reply can help you , you can click mark this reply as solution (Accept solution) which can help more people, thanks in advance!

With item()?['Employee']?['DisplayName'], I'm getting the error that "This expression is invalid."

ericasalcedo_0-1718248200668.png

json( string( item()?['Employee']) )?['DisplayName'] is recognized by the system; however, the output is incorrect. The output result is showing {:""} JSON format.

Thanks for your response! Can you copy me your input of your "Create csv table" action in your flow run history?

Can you show me this in your side?

And the "Employee" column is 3nd column in your create csv table. Why the column is 1st column in your csv table?

Hi , @ericasalcedo

Thanks for your response ! Can you try to use this expression:
item()?['Employee']?['DisplayName']

item()?['OVERALL_x0020_T_x002e_E_x002e_N_']?['Value']

vyueyunmsft_0-1718257384583.png

And for your above reply , you use the "item()?[Employee]?[DisplayName]" so it return invalid expression. You need to add the '' around your fiedName:
item()?['Employee']?['DisplayName']

ExportToExcelParse is one of the Power Automate flows used in my application in Power Apps. It uses Parse JSON. The recent flow runs are not displayed in Power Automate when triggered in the Power Apps application.

When triggered in Power Automate as a test, Parse JSON failed.

Create CSV Table in output

ericasalcedo_6-1718263522836.png

Hi , @ericasalcedo

Thanks for your response ! You flow failed so it do not execute the actions after your "Parse json" action.

In my thought , You do not need to use the "parse json action", You just directly use the function here:

vyueyunmsft_0-1718263723079.png

json(triggerBody()['text'])

Best Regards,

Yueyun Zhang

I tried several approaches including those that do not use the Parse JSON step.
In one of the steps Create CSV Table uses that function (json(triggerBody()['text'])) already.

The columns are sorted alphabetically. I need the columns in a specific order set in OnSelect as mentioned in the original post.

Hi , @ericasalcedo

Thanks for your response! You can make the custom column order here:

vyueyunmsft_0-1718264796450.png

And you need to put the code in Expression pane and add it to right pane "Value".

vyueyunmsft_1-1718264841661.png

And you can see my first column is [PersonTest], second column is [Title]. This is my result in my csv file:
