How to update a flow between two envirionments with the export/import preview?

I am using the expot / import preview for Flow, trying to migrate a team flow to another environment on the same tennant. Export works fine, but when I do an Import, on the Import Package page I am unable to select "Update", only "Create as new".

When I try to configure the import action for the flow, no flows show up in the sidebar, instead it displays "No items". I presume this is because I have no personal flows, only team flows. The Save button on the setup sidebar is only enabled when I choose "Create as new" from the dropdown.

The flow in question has 2 owners. The same import behaviour happens from both accounts. I tried removing all owners except the creator, but they still can't do an Update import for the flow.

Is updating of team flows supported yet?

Could you try to create a personal flow to export then import to see if you would still get the same issue?

I tried with both Team flows and Personal flows. I can export both flows without issues, while when import the flow, including a team flow and a personal flow, I have to enable “Create as new” from the dropdown to import the flow. While if the Set up selection is “Update”, I would not be able to click the Save button on the Import setup pane. Even for an existing flow, I have to select the “Create as new” to enable the import button.

I would like you try to import a personal flow on your side. If you are getting the same result with me, please feel free post back, I will collect and report this issue on my side.

Hi Mabel,

Thanks for looking into this. Yes I am getting the same result as you, ie can't import/update a team flow - that is the issue. I think the problem might be that team flows aren't listed in the Setup sidebar for Flows in the Import tool.

I can export and import (both create new and update) for personal flows - no issue with personal flows.

Hi Mabel, any further info on how to update a team view via the import mechanism?

As an imperfect workaround, I import to a new personal flow, then re-add other owners from the team flow, then delete the original/superseded team flow. I was surprised that I could have 2 flows with the same name, but handy in this case.

The issue with this workaround is that the flow is doubled up for a short peroid, or disabled entirely for a short period if i disable it before importing the new version.
