MS Forms File Attachment (excel) to MS List

Good day! May I request for assistance on how can I create a Power Automate flow that will read MS Forms File Attachment (excel) then save the record to an MS List.

Hi @mrpm 

Could you share more details on this- like whether you need to create a list item and then attach the attachment to it or update an existing list item with adding the attachment to it.

Here’s my scenario:

- I have already created an MS Form with an option to users to fill-out the form for a single order entry

- I am also providing an option to users to upload an excel file if it’s a multiple order and not letting the users to fill-out the rest of the fields in the form

- I also have an existing MS list where the power automate dumps the information coming from ms forms.

I am seeking assistance if someone can help me guide with the file attachment option? On how power automate reads the uploaded excel file then save the record to ms list.

Hi @mrpm 

Try as explained in demo flow which i have shared below, here i explain how you can use data from excel file to update it in SharePoint List.

Assume this is the SharePoint List like below

Assume this is the excel file structure

Now let's see the flow design

1. Use trigger when form is submitted and get response details using its response ID.

2. Use parse json to parse the attachment information as shown below

3. Use the output from parse json to loop through the files (only 1 file will there i think in your flow)

Below steps will be explained will be part of loop

3.1 - Use Get Tables to get list of all table details present in attachment

3.2- List all rows present in table using below action.

Expression used to find the table by its ID

first(outputs('Get_tables')?['body/value'])?['id']

3.3- Loop through each row of attachment and use create item to create item in the list as shown below

sometimes it may not appear (not sure why it behaves !), but there is another way to get it, if your loop name is Apply to each , then write this expression instead of id dynamic content- items('Apply_to_each')?['id']

try this and let me know whether it works or not 🙂

Good day! Yes, I copy and paste the expression first(outputs('Get_tables')?['body/value'])?['id'] in the table field but still didn't work. I was able to run the flow successfully but the MS List data is still blank.

I see get tables action ran successfully- were u able to see the output from get tables action- does it include any table information as output - i am assuming you have tables in excel file 🙂
