Look For Email with attachment and Send a second request when I don't receive an email from the customer

Hello,

I have a script when I receive an email that I would like to break in 3 categories:

1. If the customer send an email with the attachment, then the script take the attachment save it in the folder and then remove it from the inbox.  (this part is already done in the script)

2. If the customer did send an email with NO ATTACHMENT, then the script send another request to the customer. (this part is already done in the script).

*** But I really need to implemented the step below.

3. IF I DID NOT RECEIVE AN EMAIL AT ALL FROM THE CUSTOMER, then I need the script to send another request to the customer same as step 2 above.

Below is how the script look like.  Step 1 and 2 are working fine, but I need step 3 to implemented in the script as well.

Please show your answer in PAD so I can see the step.

Thank you everyone!

Hi Nived,

Thank you and thank you for put this together.  Currently this is what I have and this is the order I want it to be.  I also want to implemented your steps through mine, but I am having difficulty where to place thing.

----This is the order----

1. Go to the customer inbox and look for that email (blalala@gmail.com)

2. When you find the customer email, look if there's an attachment

3. If there's an attachment, grab the attachment and save it to my folder and rename at the same time and then move the email to the appropriate folder.

4. If the customer sends an email WITH NO ATTACHMENT send a request to the customer

5. If I did not receive NO EMAIL FROM THE CUSTOMER send a request to the customer

6.  Repeat all the steps for the next customer email

NOTE: I don't want to launch the excel app yet.  I want to grab the email first. Meaning get the file and send a request to the customer if I receive and email with no attachment or no email at all.  I already have the steps in the script what I need to do with the excel file after I download them.

*** Below are the steps I currently have ****  Please let me know how to make all together.

So in order for step 3 to work, the bot needs to have a list of emails that you are expecting.

For example, if I was building this for bids that I sent out to potential customers, then I would have a list of all open bids in Excel.  As part of steps 1 and 2, I would update the status next to each bid, with a status date.  Then, as part of my process for step 3, it would have some logic that says (if it's been 3 days since the last status update, and the status update is not "signed and returned", then resend a follow-up email).

Good luck!

I am not quite follow your answer.  Is there a way you can show your answer in PAD so I can see the step?

Hi @TTC

What @MichaelAnnis is trying to say is

Keep a excel file having list of customer to look details into with customer details + status column

Loop through each row and checks emails arrives with attachement/without attachment or no emails

Based on that status is updated accordingly bot, based on value you can decide, to send email to customer who haven't send any email.

Is there a way your guys can show me the answer in PAD so I can see the step?

I don't know where to begin beside I don't want to do anything crazy so I don't break any code on the 1 and 2 step of the email that already in the script.

Hi @TTC

One question here

You are expecting one email from each customer right ?

yes, one email per customer and sometimes multiple attachments on one email.

Hi Nived,

Any updates on this?  Please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi @TTC

It is possible to try this

See below logic

First create / store a excel which would be having details of customers and their email id whose email needs to check.

Now loop through each of it to retrieve emails corresponding to the customer

Now use if and else if actions accordingly

If mail arrives and having attachments,

Save the attachment and delete mail

Else if mail arrives but no attachments are there with mail,

Send an email to customer requesting for attachments

Else  the customer sends no emails , then send an email

This is the complete logic you should give a try.

Hope it helps !
