Form Approval flow

Hello,

In my flow, a user will fill a form and when the response is submitted an approval email is sent to their manager and an excel table is update with information from the form

For some reason, when the flow gets to the approval section, it gets stuck. Since creating it yesterday, it has not worked once. I removed the approval section, and all other actions ran without fail. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong in the "Approval" section

Thank you in advance

Hi @VKlabs

You are using "Start Approval and Wait for response"  because of this action flow will wait until approver perform an action. so if you you don't want to wait for the response  just use Approve/Reject instead Wait for response.

Hi @DeepakS

Well that's the goal really. I want an email to go to the manager, who would approve or reject the request from the user. The system never sends out the email, it seems to get stuck.

I tried "Approve/Reject - First to respond" in the beginning but that didn't work for me either.

These are the option I have available to me

Hello @VKlabs

In the assigned to field. What are you putting in their? That is who will be receive if the approval.

As a test put your own email in there (from your organization) and run the test to see if you get the email. If not also check in flow on the left nav bar. A tab called actions. That is where approvals go.

Hi @VKlabs

Try to send email to yourself (if you already have not done that) and check if you received an email. I would also suggest you to  Approval page and check if request are pending there, if you see your approval request pending there then there might be some issue in email connector.

Hi @Jcook @DeepakS ,

I did try with my email initially when I created the flow. I tired it again and still have the same issue. The flow gets stuck that the approval section and I don't receive an email

I looked in the action section and I do see the request listed there and I am able to approve the flow. Though, I still don't receive an email for the approval

@VKlabs

What email client are you using?

Can you try office.com for outlook.
Lastly, how are you triggering your flow? Are you using a test, with previous results or fresh trigger?

@Jcook

I'm using Outlook (Desktop App). I also just check Outlook (Web) and don't see either email

I am triggering the flow from a Microsoft Form. And I am using a fresh trigger (filling out the form) each time

Hi @VKlabs

Everything seems like it is good on the configuration side. Can you try to delete the approval action and re add.

This is strange behaviour.

I deleted and recreated "Start and wait for approval"; its still running and hasn't sent out the email

Is it possible to create a different type of flow that would give me the same output?

Is it possible my issue has to do with not having a proper license to do this action?

Hi,

So since you are receiving the approval in the actions tab in flow, the approval action is working.

Can you check your junk to see if the mail went there.

Which user are you using for the approvals. Is it the same email that you are using to create the flow?

Make sure your organization is allowing emails from maccount@microsoft.com

I’m pretty sure the approver must be in the same organization

To check if you can get the approval emails on there

Sometimes the Desktop client can be buggy with versioning

I honestly have no other ideas at this time.

The last thing I can think of is some policy that your organization is doing on mailboxes. Maybe filtering of some sorts. Causing you not to see any emails.

You may want to open a support ticket with Microsoft.

Sorry I could not help fix your issue.
