Add Picture control not working on Nexus 6P, Android 8.1.0

Please be so kind as to read my full post before responding.
Thank you for your consideration.

On (only) one of our company devices a

Nexus 6P
Android 8.1.0
Kernel version 3.10.73-g309d642
Build OPM7.181205.001
PowerApps version 3.18114.16

I cannot get the Add Picture control to work with the device camera.
Clicking the control, choosing Files, then choosing a file, works and changes the Image displayed in UploadedImage.
Clicking the control, choosing Camera, taking a picture, then confirming with the fat tick button, only returns me to the PowerApp without doing anything, in particular not changing displaying the picture supposedly just taken with the camera.

I can consistently reproduce this with said device even with a simple test-PowerApp, blank canvas, phone layout, only adding one Add Picture control, no other modifications.

I haven't encountered this issue with our other devices, Ipad Air, Aquarius X (Android 8.1.0).

My questions

  1. Does anyone else experience a non-working Add Picture control with a Nexus 6P, or another device?
  2. Does anyone else have no issues with a Nexus 6P with same versions numbers?
  3. Any workaround for me, except for taking the picture with camera directly and selecting it from files?

I have the same issue on Huawei P10 (Android 8.0.0)

Hi,

Sorry you're seeing problems on this, can you please send us some information:

1) a session ID of the execution

2) if you can repro this with a single app with just the add picture control?
3) what happens if you disable the "Image Optimization" toggle on hamburger menu.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply @claudiosvcc

As mentioned in my original post, I can reproduce this with an Canvas App only containing an Add Picture Control.
In this post I will only mention results for Apps like these which fulfill your 2).

I just ran some tests on my Nexus 6P, PowerApps version 3.19051.18.

I have an old App (Phone Layout Canvas, add Add Picture, no other modifications) that I used for testing when I originally posted this, and just ran a test with it.

Thanks for you information.

We're looking into the issue.

I have similar problems. We have several users using the same canvas app. iPhones and OnePlus devices work fine, but at least part of Huawei and Honor devices do not capture the image. Even some Huawei device, which did work before, is not working with new version of the application.

They still can use AddMediaButton to add image from device gallery, but not directly from the camera. Camera control appears and accepts to take/save photo, but AddMediaButton image stays blank.

I tested this with new simple app and same result.

I tested same apps in Chrome, and they do work. Something wrong with PowerApps mobile for Android now.

Chrome is not acceptable solution for us, we need to stick in PA mobile.

@atte, Can you please elaborate what you mean by

When I open PowerApps from any browser (on Windows) using either play or edit, using the Add Picture control sends me straight to the file selector.
I don't get a chance to use any camera (attached Webcam).

Do you mean that you can use PowerApps from Chrome on your Android device, and that with this you can successfully take a picture from choosing Camera via the Add Picture control?

Yes. First you must uninstall PowerApps from the mobile device. Then you copy the app web link in PowerApps and open the link in Chrome. It works but it is a compromize.

It doesn't work in every browser, but in Chrome you can capture the camera image.

Hello @claudiosvcc

Has there been any news on this issue?
Or has Microsoft PowerApps support for Huawei Phones (Nexus 6P is a bad Google designed Huawei device) also been suspended for US national security reasons Smiley Tongue ?

Thanks,
