Adding a select all checkbox

I have a gallery of items that are selectable via a checkbox. On the OnCheck property i have the following:

Collect(colRequirements, ThisItem)

Which works great, i know this because i have a test gallery underneath with the collection as its source (for this testing purposes). However i want to add a "Select All" checkbox (outside the gallery) to check all the boxes and add all the values to the collection.

I can successfully get all the boxes to appear checked, however i cannot get all the items into the collection.

Anybody got any ideas?

For the OnCheck property of the "Select All" checkbox, I have tried numerous different things:

ForAll(galCheckbox.AllItems, Collect(colRequirements, ThisRecord))

ForAll(galCheckbox.AllItems, Collect(colRequirements, ThisRecord.Value))

Collect(colRequirements, galCheckbox.AllItems)

Collect(colRequirements, galCheckbox.AllItems.Value)

Collect(colRequirements, ShowColumns(galCheckbox.AllItems.Value, "Value"))

It depends!  The formula results in a table.  

When you refer to DataCard, I assume then this is an EditForm.  If so, your Default of any datacard should reference the ThisItem.fieldName

Your formula should interject its results either into a control within your datacard or as part of the Update property.  

If you change the default property of a datacard that way, you break the Unsaved feature of the form.

So, perhaps a little more context on what you have and how and where you are going to use the results of the items checked in the gallery.   Are you trying to store them in a record?  Are you trying to use them in some other way?

I really appreciate your time and help with this.  

I'm building a form for a Sharepoint list.  I have a list of check boxes and when selected and submitted, the selected values show up in the sharepoint list sucessfully.  I want a "Select all" checkbox to select all of the items and have all of the values listed on the sharepoint list.  The select all button works as of checking all of the checkboxes, but the results are blank on the sharepoint list.  I attached a screenshot of the layout. Please let me know if you need more info.  It works if you check each checkbox manually.

Yes, got all of that so far.  The question though that I am trying to determine is you say that "the selected values show up in the sharepoint list successfully" - how so?  How are you submitting the checked items and to what kind of column in your list?  Text or something else?

I am trying to figure out how you are storing the selected items and how you are "re-checking" the appropriate boxes when you Edit a record that is already submitted.

Also, I am seeing a stumbling block to your scenario...you are putting the Gallery in the Form DataCard.  There is a bug with Galleries in datacards and using checkboxes like this.  We can work around it, but it is a point to be made.

The check boxes come from a list called Traffic Trouble Call and the column is a lookup to that list. I have a gallery because that is how I learned to convert a combo box to a check box. The chkCabinet Text is ThisItem.Value.  The Items in the galCabinet is Filter(Choices([@'Traffic Trouble Call'].Cabinet_x0020_Maintenance),Not(IsBlank(Value))) 

I use a submit button -  on select - SubmitForm(SharePointForm1) 

The attached item shows what displays when I picked 3 checkboxes.

Sorry for the delay - I hope you had a good vacation.

Okay, had to re-read through the posts again.  So, the bigger problem is that there is a bug in using a Gallery in a Form Datacard.  This will cause some things that would normally be easy to be a little more complicated.

This is a little screen capture that shows the issue.  On the left is a Gallery in a Form Data card.  On the right is the EXACT same thing.  The Items property is the Choices function.  There is a label below it that shows the filtered results of the checkboxes in the Gallery - Concat(Filter(Gallery.AllItems, Checkbox.Value), Value & ",").   

There are NO other formulas involved.

You'll notice the label under the one in the Form has nothing in it regardless of the selections. This is the bug!

So...

The problems arise - It really has a lot to do with editing a record and making sure the checkboxes are checked properly, and it makes me then ask this question:

CAN your gallery of checkboxes exist outside of the Form?  Or, it is such that the form needs to scroll and the Gallery would need to scroll with it?

There are a couple different ways to go about your scenario, so let's see where we can go with it.

I'm thinking that the Gallery will need to be in the form.  I may be building this form the wrong way but so far, it all seems to work except for the Select All button.  Attached is what the form looks like from the beginning to end.

So based on the document and images, you really don't need the Gallery in the Form.  You just need your Form to get its values from the Gallery.

If you add the Gallery outside of the form and just make it visible based on the Yes/No for maintenance, then it is quite simple.

Your Gallery will have an Items property of:

  Filter(Choices([@'Traffic Trouble Call'].Cabinet_x0020_Maintenance),Not(IsBlank(Value))) 

I am going to assume that all of the labels of the Checkboxes in your Gallery are the real choice values in your SharePoint column.

If so, then the Text property of the Checkbox would be : ThisItem.Value

The Default property of your checkbox would be: Self.Text in SharePointForm1.Updates.Cabinet_x0020_Maintenance.Value

For the Cabinet_x0020_Maintenance datacard in your form, your Update property would change to :

   ForAll(Filter(yourGallery.AllItems, checkbox.Value), {Value: checkbox.Text})

This will then give you the ability to have the Gallery show existing records and then will also write updates to your list during a submit.

Again, I believe after looking at the pictures in your attachment, this would all be fine outside of the form...and should be done this way.

If there was SOME reason that scrolling the form was an issue in regard to an external Gallery, then it gets more complex.  Stick with easy as much as you can.

I see what you mean by not having it scrolling in the form.  I actually have 3 categories, Cabinet Maintenance  Ground Maintenance, and Overhead Maintenance with different check boxes under all 3.  If scrolling is more complex, I might just create 3 tabs that go to each category instead of scrolling down to each one.  That way, I can have the galleries outside the form.  Does that make sense?
