App to manage vehicles booking

Hello.

At my company we have 4 cars that workers can book. The actual process is by filling an excel form and then we have a person who manage the availability of the car and answers by e-mail.

I'm thinking about creating an app where workers can access to request one of the 4 cars if they are available.

so the logic is to have a first page with kind of a gallery and a indicator if the vehicle it's available or not and the user can click on the vehicle and goes to a page to book the vehicle indicating the Dates of booking. Once a person submit the request the car appears as ocuppied but once the date of reservation passes it turns automatically available again.

Plus I would like to add an option for the person that booked to cancel if necessary and a page for the managers of the process where they can control all the requests that were made.

It's possible to do that with power apps?

Thanks in advance!

Miguel

Definitely doable. Both sides - requester and manager - can be done with canvas apps but personally, I would suggest a model-driven app for the approval process, so potentially a 3rd app if you will. Let me know if you need any details to get started.

What data source were you planning to use?

The short answer is yes, this is possible. To get started, you can check out some of the PowerApps templates or check out the getting started guide.

Yes, this is possible.  It looks like you have a good idea of what the app will do.

I would suggest you get started on building the app and make a new post each time you encounter a technical issue.  Working on together on specific problems with the app is easiest for our forum members to assist with.

Thanks for the answer.

The data source could easily be an excel file containing the car data. But what you suggest me?

My main issue is that I don't really know how to work with power apps, so any link that could help me to understand how to create that data base with the cars and how to manipulate to show if it's ocuppied or not linked to the requests would be rally useful.

@Anonymous

If you are new to PowerApps and require general knowldge suggest you take a free course.  It sounds like you are just starting out in PowerApps.  That's OK.

Of course... I did one for parking places, based on desk booking... It can be applied to whatever we want to book...

I learned a lot with April Dunnam Youtube channel...
And followed the steps for the desk booking, changing to parking places, that you will have to change to cars...but it's OK...Instead of DESK1 you have CAR1, and let's go...
Truly, if I could, you can... need some time of course..

It seems this course was removed 😕
