Change photo resolution taken by camera control

Hi,

I have recently developed an app which makes use of the camera control. Everything is working as intended, except one thing, the resolution of the photos is 640x480. How can I change the resolution? Because 640x480 is way too low.

Best regards,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

This is known limitation of camera control so far in PowerApps. Here is another thread talking about the same issue:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/PowerApps-Forum/PowerApps-Camera-Image-Resolution-Size-Limit/m-p...

You could post this idea in the PowerApps Ideas forum, so it might be considered for future releases.

Hi there,

We had the same issue, but instead of using the Camera Control, we now use the 'Add an image from a file' technique described at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/add-images-to-excel.

This media image control allows us to either use the camera to take a new photo, or browse to an existing image in the device’s photo library. The images are not only uploaded at full camera resolution, but we can use all of the camera functionality such as zoom, brightness, contrast, etc.

We hope that this solution may work for you as well. Ta, Ian Hearnes

Hi Mona,

Thank you for your reply. I will post a change request on Ideas forum and meanwhile I will look for other platforms to develop the app.

Hi All,

Since the Camera control cannot currently support higher resolutions, some creative work with the add media control is able to do so in its place. See this tutorial I came across:
