Hi,

I have a collection with two columns: Name and Number with multiple entries.

On a ButtonClick I want to display the Number of a specific Name in a Label (not in a Gallery).

I can do it directly in the Label with:

Concat(Filter(Collection, Name = "XY"),Number)

But I don't know how to do it over the OnSelect Option from a Button.

Can please anyone help me?

Yes, I realize there is experience on my side, but the concept was still simple.  There were 3 images added (the background, the mug and the "enjoy mug").  The rest was just standard fare.

Hi Randy,

I redesigned ma App and I now use Gallery.

In fact this is much easier than I tought.

I now use OnSelect:

UpdateContext({ toUpdate: LookUp ( Coffee_List; Name = "NAME_XY")});;

Patch(Coffee_List;  toUpdate;  {Coffee: toUpdate.Coffee +1})

It also works when the App is restarted, the right/actual Number is displayed.

I might actually consider doing a video on building this app.  Any interest?  If so, let me know what other cool things you have in it (or want to have in it). 

Also, just because it is not needed, you can change your formula to cut out the screen variable as they just clutter your app.

Incidentally, in my app I did not do a re-lookup  of the record to update it - since I had the count already in the gallery, I just added 1 to it in the update.

Thats a great idea, I would like to see that video.

What I additionaly have:

On every Screen I have a Timer which after 15 Seconds navigates back to my Homescreen.

Every ButtonClick on that Screen resets this Timer.

I have a "Undo"-Button.

so if someone accidentally clicks the wrong Button, you can undo this action.

(counter -1).

Because I don't want people to use this Button to often in a row, I disable it for 60 seconds after the Button-Click.

On my Homescreen I have a Button which navigates to an "Admin" Screen.

This Screen is Password-protected.

Here I have DataTable with my SP-List to see all the users from the differen screens.

The next things are under construction:

On the Admin-Screen I have two Buttons.

- Generate report

- Reset

Because in our office everyone has to pay the coffee at the End of the Month I need a report. (Excel-sheet over email?)

With the Reset-Button I want to Reset the Number of Coffees in my SP-List to Zero.

Maybe there is a possibility to do this automaticly at the End of every Month?

Because of my Undo-Button I want my counter to allow only positive numbers.

I don't know if this is already implemented in Powerapps, but instead of pushing a Button, maybe it is possible to connect a RFID-Reader to the tablet, and the users have to use their access card...

(Or the RFID-Card is needed to enable the Undo-Button)

I don't want you to give me the solution to every open step in may APP, I want to find the solutions by myself.

I like the ideas!  Certainly understand you will discover these things on your own, best way to learn!

I think the monthly report and clear would be good on a PowerAutomate flow.  Now, consider that I am thinking in terms of many offices.  So rather than have someone at each office go in to the app and report and clear, either that part would be taken out of the app and put into another app, or just have a flow do it every month.

I like the RFID reader or other way to identify the person, but I am not sure that would be something that could be implemented in the app.  

Some of the aspects of the App that I thought of when throwing it together is that it is a highly "trusted" app - meaning that (in my app anyway) the Guest user could just "take a coffee".  There is nothing that charges the guest.  So, what would stop an employee from just tapping the guest account?  I sided with simplicity and trust.  Thinking that employees would be trusted to click their name and not hit guest unless they had a guest they were "treating" a coffee to (or snack).  Kind of like the little money box at the coffee machine...you hope people put some money in, but you are only hoping in trust.

But neat ideas!...I will think about a video on it as it can be a good training app for people to learn from.
