ComboBox( Multiple choices) Patch function to my SP list.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you in advance for any helps. I'm stuck with some ComboBox( multiple choices) Patch function to my SP list.

How should I set up TYPE in my SP list column? should it be Choice or Multiple lines of text?

How should my function be?

I know for Dropdown list is like below, not sure how with ComboBox...

Patch('SP list', Defaults('SP list'), Column1: Dropdown1.Selected.Value})

Regards,

Q

@quynhle9695

You can use a Choice column if you wish.  This will be easier to deal with than multi-lines of text.  If you need the choice to have multiple values, then choose that option when you create your column.

Once in PowerApps, the Patching or other functions involving that column will depend completely on how your items are set for the Items property of the ComboBox.  If you use the complete records from the choice column, then the Patch will be as easy as:

Patch('SP list', Defaults('SP list'), {Column1: ComboBox1.SelectedItems})

If you apply formulas or alter the records to the Items of the ComboBox, you will have some more work to do in your Patch.

I would suggest, to understand this more, that you watch this great video by Shane Young.

I hope this is helpful for you.

Hi @quynhle9695 ,

Do you want to save multiple selected values from the ComboBox control into your SP List?

Based on the needs that you mentioned, I think the Choice column with enable "Allow Multiple Selections" option in your SP list could achieve your needs.

On your side, you could consider add a Choice column with available options (e.g. "Option1", "Option3", "Option3", ...) within your SP list, and enable the "Allow Multiple Selections" option for this column.

Then add a button within your app, set the OnSelect property to following:

Patch(
          'YourSPList',
           Defaults('YourSPList'),
           {
             Title: "xxx",
             ChoiceColumn: ForAll(
                                   ComboBox1.SelectedItems,
                                   {
                                      Value: Value
                                   }
                           )
           }
)

Note: The ComboBox1 represents the ComboBox control in your app. The ChoiceColumn represents the Choice column in your SP list, which has enabled "Allow Multiple Selections" option.

Hello @v-xida-msft

Thank you for  your help. I tried to add a Choice column with available options (e.g. "Option1", "Option3", "Option3", ...) within your SP list, and enable the "Allow Multiple Selections" option for this column and use the formula you suggest and got this error:

"Execting a table value, but of a different schema.

Incompatible type. The Value column in the data source you'r updating expect a 'Text' type and you are using an 'error' type"

Hi @quynhle9695 ,

Could you please share a bit more about the error message within your app?

Could you please show more details about the formula you typed within the Items property of your ComboBox?

I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned. According to the error message that you mentioned, it seems that there is something wrong with the value you typed for the Value property within the '{ }' part.

Please check if you have type a proper value for the Value property within the '{}' part.

Best regards,

I tried this and it doesn't work 😞

is there any other way? can you share what you did on yours?

@quynhle9695

Try changing your formula to the following:

Patch('Result v2',
           Defaults('Result v2').
           {
                  Title: "xxx",
                  ChoiceColumn:
                        ForAll(ComboBox2.SelectedItems,
                                  {Value: Value,
                                   '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference"
                                  }
                         )
            }
)

See if that is helpful for you.
