Combobox DisplayFields and SearchFields resettomg

I am currently trying to implement a combo box that leverages a set of filtered records out of an SQL database.

No matter what I try to change the fields to, they always return to a default field after a save or a load of the Power Apps editor.

Is this in anyway a resolvable issue? Are there any existing workarounds for this issue?

I have tried to replicate this issue across multiple Apps and it always seems to just revert to a default on its own after a while.

Hi @laurencepernix ,

It seems PowerApps doesn't like what you are entering when editing the properties directly. If you select the ComboBox and then click on edit fields, you'll see dropdowns that allow you to set the allowed values which will update the mentioned properties:

Primary text = DisplayFields property

Using the drop downs to do it does the same thing

I can change them, but once I save and reload the edit page, or make any kind of change to the app, all of the combo boxes in every single screen revert back to the first option in the dropdown menu.

This seems like a fundamental issue with how combo boxes retain their state across saves in the account I am using.

It happens within all apps in our account that are Power Apps hosted and ones that have their code saved to GIT repos.

Hi,

I am currently experiencing the same issue, which is threatening all the 6 months of work I've done on an app.

It was not the case at the end of July, so this is a new issue probably caused by an update of Power Apps.

The option to have a double combobox (2 fields) doesn't work either, and some fields of the table are not shown at all.

Have you found a solution to this?  Because I'm having the exact same problem.  No matter what I do the fields reset.

I'm hoping there's a solution to this issue, as I'm having the same thing happen on my apps.  I've tried using the SharePoint List as the data source and creating a collection and using it as data source to have the same result.  I also created the most simple list with 5 records and use it as data source to have the fields reset.  It doesn't seem to matter how many records in the list/collection.

Whenever the data structure you are using for the Items property of a combobox changes, it will reset the DisplayField and SearchField properties of the combobox. For instance when a function in the Items property momentarily returns a blank or an error, both of which probably have a different data structure than the type of item you are looking to use, the combobox will adapt to those, overwriting your DisplayField and SearchField properties. If the formula eventually does return a correct value, the harm has already been done and again the ComboBox will adapt, using the default settings.

In the below topic it was found that including and IfBlankOrError() function in the Items property of the ComboBox may resolve this issue:

This does not solve my problem, since every time I add a secondary text, click on another field and go back to the first, the secondary text has disappeared.

Also, the said double combo boxes were working perfectly until the end of July, so it can't be the case you describe.

I am experiencing this as well. Lost two days wondering what I was doing wrong.

Has anyone opened a support case? Who will draw the short straw? 🙂

The “issue” you’re describing is unrelated. 

This is an ugly bug that Microsoft acknowledged and need to fix urgently.
