Connection to on-premise SQL Server - Invalid credentials

Hello!

I've just installed the On-Premise gateway on my laptop for testing purposes and have added a SQL Server instance to the gateway.

 Capture.PNG

All good so far, but when connecting to the source I get the error below (Pressing the "Default" dataset):

Capture.PNG

It works perfectly in Power BI (Using the same on.microsoft user there).

So I have a domain account (Given by my organization, not AAD) and an on.microsoft account (Office 365 user). Shouldn't I be able to connect to the source when I have used the domain account credentials in the data source settings? Or do I have to link these accounts in some way?

Hi Youngstees,

I have just tried to connect to my SQL server in Powerapps using gateways, it works just fine.

Please make sure that you have followed the steps in below correctly to create the connection.

Hi MonaLi.

I've followed the attached guide, but I'm still facing the same error. What kind of accounts are you using to connect to the SQL Server?

Hi Youngstees,

I used the account that configured SQL server at the first place but it should also work to anyone that can access the target database.

@Anonymous, do you resolve your issue? When add connection to that on-premise SQL Server, instead of putting "." in the Server field, how about you using the IP Address or the machinename\instancename?

I am having a similar issue. I created an SQL Server connection. The Status indicates "Connected". Yet when I choose the connection, a "default icon" appears in the Choose a dataset area of the screen. When I click the default icon I get an Error msgbox. See attached pic.

Below is the detailed error message.

Permission Exception.
inner exception: Received error payload from gateway service with ID 986041: Missing or invalid credentials for data source. Reason = '<pi>AccessUnauthorized</pi>', DataSource = '<pi>SQL/reidfinmobile\sqlexpress;AdventureWorks2012</pi>', DataSourceReference = '', DataSourceOrigin = '', DataSourceReferenceOrigin = ''..

I have read and reread the "Connect to your on-premises data sources from PowerApps using on-premises data gateway" article, following its instructions. Does anyone have troubleshooting guidance?

PowerApps SQLServerExpress.png

Did you ever figure this one out? I have the same problem. I did notice under the connections set up the username and password is  gone when I go back to edit the connection. Don't know if the problems are tied together.

Hi all.

I am also facing the same issue when connetcing to sql DB and user credentials gets cleared when edited

Thanks,

Sru
