Create multiple records from one screen.

Hi all,

I've been trying to figure out what command I should use to solve this issue PATCH, FORALL or Collect. Confused.com

Scenario is a Fishing boat comes in and delivers seafood multiple types, they're not in order as they come in so I may need to add more species or go back and amend a quantity.

IE

FV-NorthWestern

Lobster 2

Tuna 1

Crab 6

Is recorded one day

FV-Black Pearl

Salmon 6

Shrimp 30

Trout 2

Tuna 1

But the quanities need amending constantly as they maybe unloaded 2xSalmon 1x Trout 3x Salmon 1xTuna, 15xshrimp 1xSalmon

But we need to record that they've all come from the Fishing Fessel FV-Northwestern or the Black Pearl to monitor their performance. Each catch needs to be logged into SharePoint Online List as a record.

ID1, Black Pearl, Salmon, 6

ID2, Black Pearl, Shrimp, 30

ID3, Black Pearl, Trout, 2

ID4, Black Pearl, Tuna, 1

I'm just not sure which function I need to run with or whether this is even possible?

Hi @jam

The quick answer is that Patch will do all you need to do for adding or updating a single species log entry.  If you really want to do multiple updates from a gallery at the same time, then ForAll may be useful, but I wouldn't use it in your scenario.

A more detailed answer would require some specific questions and/or screenshots.  For example, to update catch data for a specific vessel and a specific species, you can use this:

Patch (MyCatchData, {ID = Gallery1.Selected.ID}, {CatchQuantity: Value(Gallery1.Selected.TextInput1.Text)})

This is assuming that your SharePoint list is called MyCatchData, that you are displaying and selecting the data in a Gallery1 and that you input your new quantity in TextInput1 of the gallery.

Hi Meneghino,

Thanks for the reply.

What I would like to do is select from a drop down which boat brought the catch in.

Then I would like to add in the rows of data IE what was caught along with quantity.

Then once they've all been counted and numbers added in correctly I would like each row to be added to the SharePoint Online List as a single record taking in the boat, fish and quantity.

That way I can use PowerBi for the analytics.
