Crisis Communication solution feedback

On Monday afternoon, as news of COVID-19 cases spread globally, we pulled together a team to help customers coordinate their own information sharing and team collaboration in response to evolving conditions in times of crisis. Today, less than 48 hours later, we’re releasing the first version of that solution for any customer organization to quickly implement. You can read more about the solution in our blog post or get the full instructions for how you can implement your own Crisis Communication app here.

We're extremely excited to hear how the community leverages this app, so we've created this thread to hear directly from you. Feel free to share your experience customizing the solution and altering it for your own needs. Over the next few weeks, we'll take your responses to make the app even better and post incremental updates. 😁

@Artizeng and @mr-zedly , the instructions for enabling location may be tied to a more recent version, which is why it might not be working. I'm currently working to make the docs more evergreen, but in the meantime, I'd recommend undoing the code change and just uncommenting these lines:

// To implement location, add a comma to the line above and uncomment the lines below for latitude and longitude.
// Latitude: Text(Location.Latitude),
// Longitude: Text(Location.Longitude)

@smartamrit , This is likely due to the way we packaged the flow with the app. This is expected and the solution should still work.

Thank you for this tremendous work .... one question ... why a Team site versus a Communication site?  Is there something in there what makes a difference for use or perhaps governance?  Could we use a Communication site like the one from the Look Book template?

Thank you!

@mabolan The problem is the flow is not pushing anything to the Teams channel when user submits request. Do we need to implement mailbox for this solution and the flow have mailbox inbox as trigger.

I have even changed flow to PowerApps but still no luck. The one in the instruction have power apps in top but when implemented, we get When email arrives.

@smartamrit, thanks for clarifying your issue. We made an adjustment to the solution so that the Teams team could remain private. The solution was to have the app send an email to the admin's email (set within the Admin app) and then have the flow trigger off of that admin inbox.

If you'd like to create a shared inbox, please follow these steps: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/sample-crisis-communication-app#optiona...

@mabolan I am not looking to use the shared mailbox. I would like the request to straight to the Teams channel. Could you please share me the flow that will send the new request to the Team Channel? When initially deployed, we never receive the data to teams channel, though email was coming to the admin mailbox.

To get the notification to appear in the Teams channel, please have the admin add his or her connection to the Flow. This will allow flow to monitor their inbox for any new requests and send them to the Teams channel.

Unfortunately, the request can't go directly to the Teams channel because the end-user might not have read/write permissions to the central crisis management teams Team channel.

@mabolan Running test on the flow, I can see its failing at Get user Profile.

I can see all flow is pass except this one. Do you know what may be causing this.

Hi @smartamrit ,

Your flow failed because in your previous post, you removed the trigger.

This caused the dependencies in the actions for User Id and Comments to clear.

You will need to point the User Id to the dynamic content of the from field and the Comments to the email body.

The trigger also contains a filter to look for emails with the subject line that contains "[Crisis Communication] Request" and it has a trigger condition that leaves out replies.

Hi there, again thanks so much for this wonderful solution! Such great work and easily implemented.

I have some questions/issues:

  1. Work status:
    1. When I register a work status for multiple dates, for example today and tomorrow, when I log in the next day it again asks me to submit my status. Even if the app should already 'know' I'm working from home.
    2. It seems that not always, all dates registered are send to the team. I received an email from a co-worker that said 'I will be working from home on these dates' - but there were no dates there. When I did the same, I did send out dates in the email.
    3. The autoreply function gives an error.
  2. I get the impression that the location does not work. In my PowerBI report, I only sometimes see a dot with a location, but usually I don't. Even for my own location, which I did turn on.
  3. Scrolling in Company News and World News works different for different users. Some users can scroll through one screen but not the other (using the scroll button; SHIFT+mouse wheel seems to work for everyone)
  4. I can't get the app to work on my mobile phone (I seem to be the only one though, fortunately). It keeps saying there is no source indicated for the app. Have removed the app several times + cleared cache.
  5. On notifications about company news in Teams:
    1. Can we send a notification in Teams when a new message has been posted in company news without using the Azure AD connection?
    2. I now have it send a Flow bot message to just myself, but when I click on Read more, it leads me to an error page.
  6. Can I add things to the colNav collection? I would like to add something to the home screen that leads to a PDF file with a fact sheet, but I don't know how to edit collections. I did manage to change the order of the home screen menu items.

Thanks in advance!!

Merel
