DataCardValue dropdown with Multiple Selection is causing some troubles

Hello,

I hope someone can help me with this problem, because I am not being able to Submit a form and I'm pretty sure it's due this issue.

My DataCard 'Action' is a dropdown list of requests, such as "Change X", "Change Y" and "Change W", which results in a Table. But every time I need to Update another field with the results of that card, the expected type is 'Record', not Table. How can I resolve this issue?

Example: In the Default field there is no way to fill it without a error message (Expected Record value), and with the field being empty the SubmitForm(form1) is not working (An unknown error occurred).

As I understand it, you have a Form connected to a Data Source (assume SharePoint?) and in that Form is a DataCard ("Action"). The Action field is a SharePoint Multi Choice Column.

You have another field in the Data Card you want to update based on the selected results of the Action field.

What is the data type for the other field you want to update? A ComboBox?

Your assumptions are correct,  but I don't have another field in the Data Card I want to update based on the selected results of the Action field. The Default field example was from the very same Data Card advanced properties. 

I just want that my SharePoint list can accept this scenario where the column 'Action' is populated with 1 to 3 choices. Now that I've removed the option of multiple selection (in the list and in the app), the SubmitForm function is not generating any error, as I suspected. But the multiple selection is very import for the application. Do you have any idea how this could work?

You have not been very clear with your problem but I will have a guess of you want.

You have a field called Action which is a multi choice field in SharePoint. You want your SubmitForm function to update the field based on the selected Choices from a dropdown list.

To do this, you need a Combo Box control and not a Dropdown control. The Default values for a Combo Box control are controlled via the DefaultSelectedItems property and not the Default property.

When you add a multi choice field onto a Form control, Power Apps will automatically create a Combo Box control. Power Apps will also automatically set the correct configuration properties on the Data Card so that you can update the multi select Choice field with the options you have selected.

In fact, if you enable multiple selections for that field in the SharePoint list, and then add the Data Card field back into the Form, you will notice everything works.

I am assuming you made some changes to the SharePoint list field and / or made some customisations to the Data Card Value.

Whatever it is you did, this is how to correct it:

• Ensure the dropdown control (the Data Card Value) is a Combo Box control and not a Dropdown control
• Ensure you have enabled multiple selections for that field in your SharePoint list
• Ensure the Items property displays your Choices. If it is a Choice field in SharePoint, then you would use 
  
  

Choices(YOUR_DATA.your_choice_field_name)​

• The Update property of the DataCard should be DataCardValue.SelectedItems.Value (for a Single Choice field, it is DataCardValue.Selected)

Hi, I'm sorry for the confusion but I've tried all the tips. 

The DataCardValue is a ComboBox control:

The multiple selection is enabled in the SharePoint list and also in the power apps:

The Items property is also correct:

But the problems begin again in the Card properties, it doesn't accept DataCardValue.SelectedItems or DataCardValue.SelectedItems.Value (the same error as shown below).

The only change I made was trying to get this multiple selection working, because previously the app only allowed one choice.

I can see from the screenshot that you're using DataCardValue36.SelectedItems and not DataCardValue36.SelectedItems.Value, but the same error appears?

If you simply Add the field back into the Form, do errors still appear?

Yes, the error still appears if I use DataCardValue36.SelectedItems.Value. 

I just removed and added the Action field again, the default is automatically filled in (with error), when empty this field does not give an error, but the Update continues to give the same problem.

@lfarinha . this does not occur in my environment but there must be a reason for the error. 

Could you confirm what the DataSource and Item property is for your form?

Also, assume you refreshed the data source after setting the field to Allow Multiple Selections?
