Date Formate in edit using a Lookup column

Hello,

I'm using power apps to customize a sharepoint form. The form has a lookup column that's used to select a date from another SP list. The format of the date in the source list is date only, standard (mm/dd/yyyy). So when I create a new entry and click the drop-down, I can select 9/30/2022 and everything looks fine. However, in edit mode that same lookup column now shows the date as 2022-09-30T05:00:00Z. How can I set the edit form to mm/dd/yyyy format? I've seen instructions for formatting a datepicker but this is a lookup and doesn't have all the same options.

To update a lookup field you need to provide a record in the Update property. Try something like,

{
   Value:ComboBox1.Selected.Title,
   Id:
   LookUp(
      YourList,
      Title = ComboBox1.Selected.Title
   ).ID
}

Thanks for the replay. I must be misunderstanding. When I try to adapt your example to my form it tells me the "Title" is not a valid object.  

I should mention that it does update sharepoint as expected and the date looks correct on the SP page. It's only when editing the record that the date format appears off in the form. The only other thing I found online was someone with a somewhat similar issue was told they should be able to change the date format by wrapping it in a Text() command but I'm not sure what they meant by that.

Text() function lets you format the date the way you want it to display.

For instance, if you want the date field to display as 18-04-2022

You will write Text(YourDateField,"dd-mm-yyyy")

Thank you. I wasn't able to get that to work on the com box itself but I did use it along with a label to create a work-around. I placed a label over the combo box and set it's text to the value of the combo box. I then used the following in the labels Text property:  

Text(DateTimeValue(Date1.Selected.Value),"m/dd/yyy")

I then set the label to only show on edit and view forms. I can't help but feel that is a long way to go to get the result I'm after. Do you know combo box property I would use the text() on?

Are you able to share a screenshot? May be I don't understand what you mean.

Are you saying that you display dates in a PowerApps dropdown, which gets saved properly when you submit the form. But when the form is reloaded, the date format changes to UTC?

In that case, why don't you make that a text column in SharePoint?

Yes, that is the issue. The reason I'm using a combo box is because this column is used to select from a list of dates in another SP list. This is how it looks in a new form:

The date is saved in the correct format, however, when I edit the record the date looks like this:

I tried switching the combo box with a drop-down box but that had it's own issues. Namely, starting with a blank value. I tried setting the AllowBlankValues option to true but every time I would edit the form the field would be blank again. 

Your answer did help lead me to my work-around. It just seemed like I may have been missing a simpler solution.

This is how I did it.

In your lookup list, create a calculated Text field with this formula

Reference this field  in your lookup column. That should do it.

That is exactly what I need! It's so much cleaner than what I had as a work around.
