Filtering a Gallery From Sharepoint List

I have a sharepoint list, called 'Organisations List'. On this list there are three columns;

'Organisation Name' - A Text input with the name of the organisation.

'OrganisationType' - A dropdown column that pulls a list of types from a separate Sharepoint List entitled 'Organisation Type'

'OrganisationFocus' - A dropdown column that pulls a list of focuses from a separate Sharepoint List entitled 'OrganisationFocus'

For reference, Type is 'Charity' 'Political Party' 'Trade Association' and Focus is 'Homelessness' 'Disability' etc. So each record shows an organisation name, what type of organisation it is and what its main area of focus is.

I'm on Powerapps creating a searchable database. I want to be able to have a screen with a gallery that will allow me to filter the gallery by searching 'name' 'type' or by 'focus'. I understand I can filter using search or through drop down boxes. However, I don't seem to be able to get this to work. I can populate the drop down box, but I can't get the gallery to filter the records to only show what has been selected in the box. 

I'll get a delegation error message, but I'm not expecting to have greater than 500 entries so its not especially concerning. I don't know if the fact the columns are drop down boxes on sharepoint makes a difference?

I've got the gallery showing all records from the 'Organisations List' and I have a drop down box which lists the 'Organisation Type'.

I can get the drop down box to either autopopulate from the 'Organisation Type' Sharepoint List, or I can add in the values manually. I don't seem to be able to get the drop down box to pull values from the 'OrganisationType' Column on the 'Organisations List' Sharepoint list, I presume this is because it is a drop down column, not a text column.

I've attached a photo of the gallery, the Organisation list and the error that keeps coming up.

First, to be clear, the delegation message is a warning, not an error message.  So, if as you say, you will not have more than 500 (actually 2000 would be the limit) records, then you need not worry about the warning.

Next, your columns in your list are Choice columns as I understand it.  Choice columns have records with values, not direct values.  So, you need to reference them as such in your formula.

Filter('Organisations List', OrganisationType.Value = Org_Type_DpDown.Selected.Value)

Your Items property for the Dropdown should be :  Choices('Organisations List'.OrganisationType)

That's really helpful, and thats worked, I've now got a filtering gallery that filters by the selection on the drop down.

Is there a way to include an 'all' selection where it would just show all records. I'd prefer it to open this way just for the sake of aesthetics more than anything.

Is it also possible to filter by two dropdown menus on one screen? I.e. by type and by focus, so if I wanted to see the charities that focused on debt I could use those selections. Is it the same in principle, i.e. I just add another drop down menu and add another filter line into the items of the gallery?

Yes, all possible.  I would need to know more about the Items properties of dropdowns and the column names that they would filter against in your datasource.

In terms of lists and columns, I have the below. I've put the lists in blue and the columns in red in the vague hope it makes it more clear;

'Contacts' - A list of contacts, which has the below relevant columns;

• 'FullName' - Name of the contact
• 'Organisation' - Name of the organisation (This is a drop-down column, which pulls from the 'organisation name' column of the 'Organisations List' List.

'Organisations List' - A list of organisations, which has the below columns;

• 'Organisation Name' - Name of organisation, text input, (feeds 'Organisation' drop-down column on 'Contacts' list
• 'OrganisationType' - The type of organisation, eg. charity, thinktank etc. (This is a dropdown column, which pulls from the 'Organisation Type' column of a list 'Organisation Type')
• 'OrganisationFocus' - The focus of the organisation, eg. homelessness, disability etc. (This is a dropdown column which pulls from the 'OrganisationFocus' colum of a list 'OrganisationFocus'

Both lists 'Organisation Type' and 'OrgansationFocus' have only one text input column which gives the results to feed into the drop down menus. 

I'd like a gallery and two drop down boxes, that would allow me to filter the 'Organisations List' by both 'Organisation Type' and 'OrganisationFocus'

Ideally, I'd like an 'All' selection and to be able to search the list by 'Organisation Name' through a text input box, if thats possible.
