Find Barcode related data in excel table

Hello everyone! I am new to using power apps. I have a problem that I think is not difficult to solve, but I am stuck.

I have a datasource of an Excel Table named "Tabella_Barcodev4" that has many colums. [Please note that I added a row with the "1231412" text to try if my formulas work. (Picture 3)]

In my app i want to use the scanned barcode Value to find and show some data contained in the "Tabella_Barcodev4" excel table.

To simplify my work I set a variable in OnScan (Picture 1); then I set a sort of "reset Button" named "Scan Again" that cleans up the fields below (Picture 2).

Then I created a label "Label12" where I insert (in Text) "lastScan" which is the name of my variable.

Now I want to show in "Label11" and fields below the other data (in the Excel table colums named "BarcodeDescrProdotto", "BarcodeCodProdotto" an so on) related to THAT barcode that is scanned (i dont want a summary/Gallery of every scans). So I've tryed to use a Lookup formula but now I would like to tear my hair out.

The LookUp works fine testing the barcode Button from the development screen: in Picture 4 you can see that the LookUp find "TRY1", "TRY2" etc etc.. These are data that are actually present in the excel table. 

But playing the app, when I try to scan a Barcode there's no fields filled with the data.

Is anyone so kind to help me?

I cannot find any mistake. When you playing the App, what was the barcode value you scanned, was it 1231412 too? In addition, have you published the App before using it on your phone?

Hi @v-jefferni and thank you.

From what I've learned, 1231412 is the default output when you press the barcode button on power app developement (from the pc). I've added this barcode to my Excel table just to test if my lookUp formula is working.

However, when I run the app on a smartphone and try to scan a barcode, there is no response: the lookup doesn't find data from the other colums ("BarcodeDescrProdotto" & "BarcodeCodProdotto" and so on). I cannot understand if it is my lookup formula that doesn't works or else.... Note that in my excel table barcodes are saved as Text.

Please try and use IsBlank in the If statement, checking if this is the problem:

    IsBlank(lastScan);
    "";
    LookUp(...)
)

To view the most recent scanned code value, use below formula:

First(BarcodeReader.Barcodes).Value

So, please edit the formual OnScan:

Set(lastScan; First(BarcodeReader.Barcodes).Value)

Maybe I havent been so clear, my fault.

When I scan a Barcode, the barcode actually compare in Label11.

Then I want to use this barcode to lookup/filter an excel table and obtain some data stored in other colums of that table.

At this point, i think the problem is in my lookup formula.

    LookUp(
        Tabella_BARCODEv4;
        BarcodeProdotto = lastScan
    ).BarcodeCodProdotto
)

Or, is it possible that the problem is in my excel table? Barcodes are stored in that file in text format.

Hi @FranzRosa ,

You can add another Label to test the LookUp function, set Text to:

LookUp(Tabella_BARCODEv4; BarcodeProdotto = "14011-000").BarcodeCodProdotto

see if "SLNO25SAND" is displayed.

Ok now something works, but the lookup find only records stored in the upper part of the excel table. Do I have a delegation limit issue now?

Hi @FranzRosa ,

Excel table is non-delegable data source, and this is the reason that using an Excel table as data source is not recommended.

You can change data row limit to 2000 in App settings if there would not be more than 2000 rows within this table.
