How can i find the Addattachment_Id in any Edit Form in Powerapps?

Hi,

I have a form with different columns. I have a flow to test and I don't understand what is needed for that value(see Captura2 field).

What I am trying to do is submit(not create) an Pen Input to a column as an image for the same form but apparently is very obfuscating. I know there are some videos around there but they show you how to create not update a column.

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous ,

I have a blog on images stored in SharePoint from Power Apps and both the pen control and attachment process are in there. Happy to help further after you have read this.

Hello Mr. @WarrenBelz,
Thank you for your reply. I don't really know with what name I should fill the Create File & Updating File Properties.

Thanks

Hi @WarrenBelz,
What side of code would you like to see because is all kind of visual?

Hi @Anonymous ,

I have a fairly detailed explanation of various processes in my blog, so I am not sure exactly what it is you are attempting. If I had the code on the direction you have tried, I could help to correct it.

Hi @WarrenBelz ,
I will try to be as clear as possible.

So, what I am trying to do is to fill a form with some data(Name, Surname, Hour, etc) and a Signature(with the PenInput control) within PowerApps. The problem that I face is that I save(in a Sharepoint list) the Signature as binary data. I store correctly the binary data to the Sharepoint column but I want the image of the Signature, as well, as when I update that record in Powerapps the Signature should somehow be retrieved correctly for that record.

I use these steps to achieve that.

1. Fill the data in Powerapps form

2. When at the Signature textinput I have a card as in c1.png and the button "Firmar"

2.1. The button "Firmar" has this:

Set( PenVar, JSON( PenInput1.Image,JSONFormat.IncludeBinaryData ) );
Set( PenVar64, Mid(PenVar, 24,Len(PenVar) - 24 ) );

2.2 The next textinput(c2.png) is the column that I will save to sharepoint. His value is PenVar64 as shown in c1.png
3. The real deal is: I don't want to create a file as you do on your blog with the Power Automate flow. I want to edit my column in Powerapps and save the content of the Signature as an image in Sharepoint by passing the binary data as base64ToBinary(triggerBody()['Createfile_FileContent']) or similar.

I don't know if this is possible.
4. Regarding my original question, I wanted to add and attachment to the Signature column in Sharepoint with PowerAutomate when submitting the EditForm from Powerapps as a workaround to my problem but I didn't know how to refer the "id of the list item to attach the file to" that appears in the Captura2.png.
4.1 Your sixth point from the Add Attachment section says: "Use Ask in Power Apps for both the Id and File Name" but what is the Id? How do I get that? Is it the name of the Powerapps form column? I don't understand what to put, if  a number or what?
I understand that in the "FIleContent" I can put in Powerapps, in my case, PenVar64.

So that is my problem.

Thank you!

Hi @Anonymous ,

Firstly, you are not storing you data in SharePoint in Binary, it is Text is a format called Base64. There are two "versions" of this, depending on what you want to do with the data. If you want to view the image in PowerApps, you only need to strip off the leading and training quotes - please have another read of this section of my blog - you can easily then view this in an Image control.

The second "version" is when you strip off everything before (and including) the first comma and also the trailing quotes - the code you posted does this, however it is better not to rely on the comma being at position 23 and using the code in this section of the blog. This is "pure" Base64 and able to be used for the content of an image in Power Automate with the base64ToBinary expression.

I store signatures often in SharePoint Lists and use two fields (one of each of the above), allowing both viewing of the signature in Power Apps and the production of the image to embed in forms via Word Merge.

The reference to the ID was related to when you save a file in a SharePoint Library and then "link" it to the "parent" - you are not doing this, so it is not relevant.

You also refer to the "add Attachment" section - I am not sure why you would bother with this when you are already storing the Base64 text in the list.

Does all this make sense to you?

Hi @WarrenBelz ,

It kind of makes sense but it doesn't answer my question fully. I firstly had and still have the problem of "how to store the signature from Peninput to Sharepoint as an image" which derived to the add attachment question because I didn't know how to do it. No, I don't want to view the image in PowerApps, just in Sharepoint.

What should I do?
Do I need to change the type of Sharepoint list  in order to be able to save the signature as an image?
Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous ,

That is covered in some detail in this section of the blog - the ID is simply the ID of the item in the SharePoint list you are attaching the file to.

You can also easily view attachments as per this section.
