How to Submit Form and Run Power Automate at Same time with Form Data

Here is my Power App.

The user will fill in the information, and click submit.

The submit button OnSelect is Submitform(Editform1).

This information is then put into a SharePoint List.

assignments 8.JPG

What I would like to do, if it is possible, is when they click on Submit, the same action happens with the SPO site, but I would like for a FLOW to be kicked off.

The FLOW will post a message to a teams chat.  I would like it to post the information they are submitting in the form from the PowerApp.

I found how to kick off the flow, but it takes away my submitform.  Can I add multiple lines to OnSelect?

So my goal is, for the Power App to submit the information that it is doing right now SPO List, as well as kick off a flow (above) that will post a message to a chat in Teams, but use the information from the form.

Any idea how I accomplish this?

One more time before giving up for the night.

I removed the Teams action and removed the PowerApps trigger.

I then readded everything.

I set the schema:

Travis5150_3-1641859890937.png

The result is everything runs, but the output I get in Teams is "test" lol.

It skips the other outputs.

@Travis5150

Your JSON results don't look proper.

Just to make sure I wasn't going crazy (not a long trip) as I have been providing info by memory...I set this up the same way.  Created a flow just like that and tested it from PowerApps...it worked flawlessly.  Posted in the team chat all the information sent.

I used a sample JSON of {"Item1":"abc", "Item2":"abc"}

Then from PowerApps:  Travis5150Test.Run(JSON({Item1:"Hi", Item2:"There"}))

This is the part that looks vastly different from your Parse results:

RandyHayes_0-1641860880570.png

So, in your case it all starts with the Content.  In mine it is exactly the JSON that was passed to the flow.

In yours, you have a ParseJSON_Content element to the JSON.

I believe I see from the pictures what your issue is...in the Content of the Parse JSON action, you have "Body" listed there.  I believe you are getting the input from the PowerApps Body element, and not from the ParseJSON_Content parameter that is passed.  Change that Content to be the ParseJSON_Content element from the PowerApps trigger.

That should hopefully do the trick!

So, I am finding that it is still thinking it is an Array.

So here is where I am at.

ONSuccess is set:

Collect(
FormInfo,
{
CaseNumber: Self.LastSubmit.Title,
CaseType: Self.LastSubmit.CaseType.Value
}
);
Set(
FormObj,
JSON(FormInfo)
);
'TEST-CasePost'.Run(FormObj);
Clear(FormInfo);
Back();

CaseType in SPO is a Choice Column

Travis5150_3-1641903965759.png

Travis5150_4-1641904022702.png

I have noticed it keeps adding brackets into the Content.

so if I set it up like this, I seem to get the right output, but it is in an array.
ok fine, any idea how to pull those two items from the array?

@Travis5150

I'm not sure why you would want to take two values and put them into an in-memory database table (the collection).  You already have the values, just pass them in the JSON.

As mentioned, your OnSuccess formula should be:

'TEST-CasePost'.Run(
    JSON(
        {CaseNumber: Self.LastSubmit.CaseNumber,
         CaseType: Self.LastSubmit.CastType.Value
        }
    )
);
Back()

There just is not need to set variables and make collections...you already have what you need ready to go.

Here is the setup:

Travis5150_3-1641912654275.png

Travis5150_4-1641912674810.png

Does not matter if I choose CaseNumber or Casetype (I did not try both even thought that is the end goal), it gives me this Teams output:

Ok, I figured out why it was doing that.

When I expanded the Teams action, for whatever reason, it was HOLDING each value that I had put in there before, and just kept saving them, but hiding them.

Once I expanded it, I could see all the items that were added.  I removed them all and readded the two values.  It is working now.

Let me go through one more time and confirm and I believe we can mark as resolved!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

@Travis5150

Your input to the ParseJSON is still wrong.  Did you make the change that I mentioned in message #22?

Yes, the actions in PowerAutomate will a lot of times retain their past sin.  Usually they change, but sometimes you have to do more to change them.
