How to send a pdf file as a HTTP request?

Hello everyone,

I am a beginner on Power Apps and Power Automate and I have been given a task to create a Power App where the user can upload a PDF file, which should afterwards be sent as a HTTP request to an API endpoint in order to have it processed. My problem is that I don't find a way on how to send the PDF file as a request to the API. Could someone please tell me the steps I would have to take? I understand that it is possible to have a box where the user can upload the PDF file to the Power App but how would the request be sent?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi @istaka ,

You could create a Power Automate flow in the app and pass the PDF file to the flow. Then use the HTTP action in the flow to send the PDF file to the API.

thanks a lot for the help as it made me get closer to the answer. Unfortunately I haven't managed to make it quite work yet. I will show now how my flow, request and response look like. The api is located here https://forum01-bimkit-spi-inhaltserkennung.apps.k8s.nt.ag.

This is my app, for the purpose of this forum it only has a button which is supposed to send the SamplePDF to the API as a request.

Below is my flow

This is what it looks like when I click on the Send Request button:

Note: When I send the request using cURL, the API works fine. Example: curl -X POST -F file=@sample.pdf 'https://forum01-bimkit-spi-inhaltserkennung.apps.k8s.nt.ag'.

@v-zhoqian-msftthanks for the reply. I can't manage to get the file when I process the request. I am using Python, more specifically flask restful to deal with the HTTP request. My problem is that when I try to take a look at the data being send via the request I get only the location of the PDF file not its actual bytes.

You can see what the response looks like above. Do you know what I should change in order to get the bytes as part of the response and not actually the path where the file is stored?
