If statement - multiple conditons

Hi,

I have created a powerapps form from my SP list.

I have a dropdown with 2 values  - "Fiche de faisabilité" and "Fiche programme"

When i select Fiche de faisabilité, i can input the name of my client into the name field.

But if i select Fiche programme i want to filter it or lookup

This is my formula

If(dpd_etape.Selected.Value="Fiche de faisabilité";ThisItem.'Nom du client';Filter(dpd_recherche_etude.Selected.Nom);Nomduclient))

ALP1_0-1623254986954.png

To explain what is my purpose.

I created a document library. When I upload a document (excel for example) I fill in the requested metadata.

But when I load another document (Word for example), I must be able to associate it with the excel document I just uploaded

For quality reasons, I must be able to automatically retrieve the metadata that I have filled in for the excel document.

It's a long video, but well worth the time!  And thanks for subscribing!!

So for your Items formula, you need to have matching schemas.

If(dpd_etape.Selected.Value="Fiche de faisabilité";
    Sort(Distinct('Base région centre';Region);Result);

    RenameColumns(
       Filter('centre de documentation';Région=dpd_recherche_etude.Selected.Région).Région;
       "Région"; "Result"
    )
)

The first part of your If is returning a table with a single column called Result.  In your formula, you had the second part returning a table with a table with a single column called Région.

In the above formula, both conditions will not return tables of compatible schemas.

Waouh. I didn't know about the renameColumns function. I understand now why you rename region to result.

Remarkably interesting

Thank you.

Hi again @RandyHayes .

I am ashamed to ask for your help once again. Then Im done.

2 problems :

* For an item property

If(dpd_etape.Selected.Value="Fiche de faisabilité";
Sort(Filter('Base région centre';Region=dpd_region_concernee.Selected.Result).Centre;Centre);

RenameColumns(Filter('centre de documentation';'Centre concerné'=dpd_recherche_etude.Selected.'Centre concerné').'Centre concerné';"Centre_concerne";"Centre"
)
)

The first part is working well but the other part show me nothing in the field.

ALP1_0-1623414846813.pngALP1_1-1623414927227.png

And my last field is a person type (a SP column) and i totaly lost with the formula for this scenario.

If(dpd_etape.Selected.Value="Fiche de faisabilité";Choices('centre de documentation'.Formateur);
Filter('centre de documentation';'Référent pédagogique'=dpd_recherche_etude.Selected.'Référent pédagogique'))

ALP1_2-1623415343264.png

I am terribly ashamed to bore you with this.

No worries - you can ask for as much help as you like on this forum!!

For the first one - what kind of column is 'Centre concerné',  is that a text column or something else?

I notice in the comparisons between the OK and the bad one that your Dropdown chevron is not showing.  Is this in View mode at this point on the bad one?  Is that a dropdown or a combobox?

On the second one - what kind of columns is référent pédagogique?  You have a type conversion error in there (the red underline on the equal)

Plus, in one branch of your If statement, you are returning Choices and in the other you are returning list items.  So the records are not going to match and work properly.

For the first one, centre concernée is a dropdown column and yes it's in view mode when i select Fiche programme and in edit mode when i select fiche de faisabilité

ALP1_0-1623423293924.png

For the second one, référent pedagogique is a person column...if i understand i need to use renamecolumn ?

Well, you're going to need more than renamed columns in this case.

Since you are working with the Items property of the dropdown in your app and it is in view mode, you're not going to be able to see if it actually is getting the proper items.  I would set the mode of it so you can see the items list in both cases.

If you are getting items in both cases, then the issue is going to be with the default property and not the items.

So we need to nail it down to that.

Are both of these controls on your form Dropdowns or are they comboboxes?

I switch the displaymode to true and delete the condition. No change 😞

ALP1_0-1623428433461.png

Yes it's a dropdown component

ALP1_1-1623428643614.png

thedropdown list dpd_recherche_etude is out of the forms.

ALP1_2-1623428838442.png

what seems strange to me is that this formula works very well for the region concernée field... and it's a drop-down list.

The only difference that exists is that I use filter (instead distinct) here

Region concerneé

If(dpd_etape.Selected.Value="Fiche de faisabilité";
Sort(Distinct('Base région centre';Colonne2);Result);

RenameColumns(
Filter('centre de documentation';'Région concernée'=dpd_recherche_etude.Selected.'Région concernée').'Région concernée';"Region_concernee";"Result"
)
)

Centre concernée

If(dpd_etape.Selected.Value="Fiche de faisabilité";
Sort(Filter('Base région centre';Colonne2=dpd_region_concernee.Selected.Result).Colonne4;Colonne4);

RenameColumns(Filter('centre de documentation';'Centre concerné'=dpd_recherche_etude.Selected.'Centre concerné').'Centre concerné';"Centre_concerne";"Centre"
)
)

Actually, your image was very telling for the Region.  Although it showed what appeared as empty, it actually has rows in it.  Otherwise it would have dropped down as a little short list...this one has height which means it has values, it is just that the display column is not showing.

The Value field as defined in the right properties panel for the dropdown should have "Result" in it.

To troubleshoot further...

For the Region Items, set the property to:

RenameColumns(
   Filter('centre de documentation';
      'Région concernée'=dpd_recherche_etude.Selected.'Région concernée'
   ).'Région concernée';
   "Region_concernee"; "Result"
)

This is just the second half of the If statement.  See if that is showing results.

Let's nail that one down and then we can move on to Centre.

We'll get there!!

So for that dropdown, the real question is what is the Value property set to??

RandyHayes_0-1623456881140.png

But, in looking at your formula further for Centre concernée there are some issues with it

If(dpd_etape.Selected.Value="Fiche de faisabilité";
    RenameColumns(
       Sort(
           Filter('Base région centre';
               Colonne2=dpd_region_concernee.Selected.Result
           ).Colonne4;
           Colonne4
       );
       "Colonne4"; "Centre"
    );

    RenameColumns(
        Filter('centre de documentation';
           'Centre concerné' = dpd_recherche_etude.Selected.'Centre concerné'
        ).'Centre concerné';
       "Centre_concerne"; "Centre"
    )
)

And the Value highlighted in the above image should be set to "Centre".

In your current formula the first If is returning a table with a column called Colonne4 and the else part of the If is returning a table with a single column called Centre

The column names need to match to get this to work.  With the above formula they will all be tables with single columns called Centre.

Should work for you now.
