Linking Records between Forms within PowerApps

Hi guys... after a bit more newbie advice... or just pointing in one direction rather than the many I seem to be going in.  

Im trying to create an Approval type App.  There are 2 Sharepoint lists... one for Sign Off Task... and another for Approvers.

Attached is the rough look of the app... left hand is the Sign Off Task Form... and on the right is a Gallery showing the Approvers List. (currently it shows all)  What im trying to achieve is any Approver added on that task.. is given the same ID as the Sign Off Task (so when you save it assigns the same ID to the Approver as the Sign Off Task).  So if you raised 4 Approvers, they would all need the "ID" setting to the same as the Sign Off Form.  As im working through the problem.. ive left some of the attempts visible on the attached pic.  Idea is that once ive worked out the how.. I can then apply a filter to the Approver List that will then only show the Approvers with the same ID as the Sign Off task.  

Ive tried with GUIDs & the ID column (so using the ID from Sign Off Task to tie in the various approvers), PATCH or variables and now im so confused of the right way im just going in circles.  Im missing a simple solution here for looking too hard.  I would appreciate any vid links or support with how I should be doing this.. and ill go and learn.

You did not state your data source, but assuming SharePoint, the ID is an auto-number field and not able to be changed, however if you create another numeric field (I call mine IDRef) in the "child" list and patch in the ID of the "parent" the many-to-one relationship is very easy to lookup or filter and is completely Delegable.

Thanks for the response and it does seem to confirm my previous attempts with the Patch command.  

I thought id mentioned these were Sharepoint lists, apologies.  So I had already created my own field on the Approver side... id called mine AID and is currently shown on the pic i attached.  What I kept struggling with was the syntax of the Patch.  Basically I am wanting to Patch the ID from the Sign Off Task lists into that AID field when the Approver record is saved.. but I cannot find a way to make it work.  Any pointers?  Patch('Sign Off Task', ID, AID) is where my head goes but that sure doesnt work.  Not sure if I also need to reference the Approver List or not?

Hi @TheJayB ,

This is more about adding the field when the record in the child list is created. You did not say how you were creating this, but it is a good idea to have a Global Variable for the current record (parent) you are working on (I use gblRecord and for instance if I select from a Gallery, use

Set(gblRecord, ThisItem)

When you create the child record, for instance if using a form, include your AID with the Default gblRecord.ID.

Thank you so much.  Not sure what you did to explain it like that.. but suddenly something clicked.. and now I can get it working.  Its still got some quirks.. but ill work through them.
