Lookup Column - No data in EditForm dropdown..?

Hi all,

I'm now battling with having data displayed on my EditForm navigated from the Gallery. The column in the SP list is a Lookup column to another SP List.  After clicking the right arrow in the gallery i cannot see the selected value in the Edit form screen.

I think i must change the default property on the editform datacard for the Site?

    

Any ideas.. im kinda chasing my tail here.

Thanks Randy that worked!! While i was waiting i also checked an oldersolution you provided here to another user and figured it was the DefaultSelected property 😛

Sorry Randy one last question here if i can?...

I have seen you anser this before somewhere too.

When searching in this combobox/lookup field i would like to not have to search from the beginning of the record im searching as these "Sites" are prefixed by site ID's and codes with i do not know. Within the "site" names there is a location which i would like to be able to search.

i.e) 73_041_0081_UPC_Ibhayi_rain_EAS  is a site.. I would like to search just using Ibhayi and it should return the item?

No, you need to set the DefaultSelectedItems (DSI) property to have the exact same record schema as the Items property.  Your Items property uses Choices.  When you use Choices on a Lookup type column, the schema will be {Id and Value}.  So that is what you need to supply to the DSI.  Since your lookup underlying field is in that schema, you simply need to refer to the Parent.Default (which is the Default property of the Datacard...which is set to (most likely) ThisItem.yourColumnName)

For the next question - not out of the box!  When you turn searching on for these type of columns, it has to use the StartsWith function internally to determine the match.  

You can alter it, but it gets into record limit and delegation problems - so choose wisely based on your data design!

This formula will do that in the Items property for a Lookup column:

ForAll(Choices(yourList.yourLookupColumn), {Id: Id, Value: Value})

This will seem like "why would you do that if the choices are all Id and Value?" !!  But, there is a reason.  The reason is that the Combobox knows that you are using Choices as the primary result table supplied.  It then will automatically perform the StartsWith on the Value column to avoid delegation warnings.  So, the above "tricks" it.  It still has the same schema, but it does not assume choices and thus will perform the Search in the complete Value column.

Keep in mind, that this will limit your list to the record limit in your app (max 2000).  And it will not delegate beyond the max.
