Lookup Issue with People

I have a lookup function matching Person from Combobox and try to retrieve Deptartment code from the SharePoint list. Unfortunately, I am not able to pull the data, can you any help??

LookUp(DeptList,Contact.DisplayName=DataCardValue2.Selected.DisplayName,DeptCode)

Deptlist- Share point list with column name contact

DataCardValue2 is a combo box has defaultselecteditem= User().FullName

I am not sure what I am missing. Please help.

Hi @tejal23 - first, I am answering based on how I understood your question as below:

DeptList: has Contact as Person or Group field

DataCardValue2: is on another list (lets say UserList) and is also a Person or Group field

If my understanding is correct, please try this otherwise send details on each of the controls with associated list.

LookUp(DeptList, Contact.DisplayName= First(DataCardValue2.SelectedItems).DisplayName, DeptCode)

Unfortunately, It is still pulling, not DeptCode. It is blank and no such error.

I have two lists, one with User list and another is Department list with three columns 1) Deptcode 2) Contact 3) Dept Description. I am trying to pull the Department Code and Department Description with the current logged-In user.

DropDown -- connected to USer List

DataCardValue2.Defaulatselecteditem= If(Form2.Mode=FormMode.New,{Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & User().Email,DisplayName: User().FullName
}
)

Input Textbox -- 

DeptCode.Default=LookUp(TeamDeptList,Contact.DisplayName=First(DataCardValue2.SelectedItems).DisplayName,TeamDeptCode)

Please let me know if you need more detail.

@tejal23 - if you are simply trying to find logged in user's DeptCode from Dept list, can you not use this (just confirmed with my sample app)

LookUp(DeptList, Contact.DisplayName = gblLoggedInUser.FullName, DeptCode)

Where gblLoggedInUser is set on OnVisible of the screen or app start (Set(gblLoggedInUser, User())).

If this is still not what you are looking for please send screen capture of the form with control names.

Unfortunately, It did not work with the global variable. 

I have made some changes in the formula instead of using Display Name, I have used Email

LookUp(DeptList, Contact.Email = gblLoggedInUser.Email, DeptCode

and it works.

@tejal23 glad to hear that you got it working. Email is always a safer option anyways.
