Multiple functions on one button

Hello All,

I'm very new to Power Apps, and I would like to know if I create a submit button can I navigate to multiple screens or just one. This is my logic I'm using on select :

Jae234_1-1664999875391.png

Is this the correct format?

This is my thought process when they click on the submit button, then they navigate to success screen, and then it would also display the item they enter.

@Jae234

You can only navigate to one screen at a time.

However, if your button has a SubmitForm in it, then you ONLY want that function to be in the formula.  If you navigate to a success screen...how would you know if it was actually successful??

This is what the OnSuccess action of your form is for.  In that formula, there you would have the Navigate function to navigate only if it was a success.

As for navigating to two screens...well, that doesn't really make much sense!  If you navigate to a screen...you are there.  How could you go to two screens?

I hope this is helpful for you.

Is OfficeDisplayForm a screen? You can only use Navigate to go to a screen. Generally you'd want your submit button to SubmitForm(EditForm). Then on the Forms OnSuccess property you could include Navigate(SuccessScreen).

You can't navigate to multiple screens. If you have sucessive Navigate functions it would just go to the screen in the last Navigate statement. Is there a reason you want to navigate to one screen then immediately navigate to another screen?

Can you describe what you are trying to achieve?

Hello Randy,

As I stated in the above in my comments I am new to Power Apps. I can't answer your question. I've only used Power Apps for 2 weeks. Your statement on you can't navigate to multiple screen does help. I will review some guidelines on the on success option.

@Jae234

Yes, I understood that you were new (and Welcome!).

The question was facetious! It was to say, once you submit a form, there is no guarantee that it was successful - and so that is why you would not want to navigate immediately after the submit, but to instead use the OnSuccess and OnFailure actions of the form.

Oh okay. lol

Thanks for the welcome. I don't understand the OnSuccess, OnFailure, etc...

I have created an Editform, DisplayForm, and used the SuccessForm (within PowerApps). When someone edit the form they will receive the sucess screen, but I would also like them to receive the DisplayForm to display what they have enter in the EditForm.

@Jae234

So there really are only two types of forms in PowerApps - a Display Form, that has no functionality other than to  View/Display a record (it's pretty worthless, but has its purpose) and an Edit Form, which is used to View/Display, Edit and Create records.

When you refer to a SuccessForm, I believe you are referring to a Screen.  As there is no such form in PowerApps.

The purpose of the OnSuccess and OnFailure actions on the Edit form are pretty much what their name states - anything that is in the OnSuccess action will evaluate when the form is submitted successfully.  Anything in the OnFailure action will evaluate when the form is submitted unsuccessfully

So, if you want to have a "Success" screen become seen when a form submits properly, then you would Navigate to that screen in your OnSuccess action.

If you, likewise, had a screen to show there was a failure, then you would navigate to that screen in your OnFailure action action.

So, I've encountered a similar problem which this topic seems relevant to, but if needed, I can create a separate thread in an effort to help future users out with this same request:

In my app there is an Edit Screen with (4) buttons: [Save], [Cancel], & two [Navigate to Email Screen]. I've found the OnSuccess: "() Back" direction which I would like to keep as it works for the first two standard buttons, but for the remaining two notification buttons I need them to divert to a different screen from the prior one that ()Back leads to.

Is it possible to create a separate function for OnSuccess: Navigate(Email Screen) on the same Edit Screen? If not, then I'll likely need to break away from this discussion and create a new thread. I suspect that the proposed answer very well does relate to the above topic name, but perhaps call it Multiple directions for the single OnSuccess function.

How about posting your question as a new thread? No one will ever see it if it is answered here.

Indeed, this thread is a tad bit old, but in my hours, a few long ones, this is the closest match to what I am looking for. In an effort to help find some answers to not only my question, but to the original poster as well.

I believe that they were after the same solution from the way I read it, what they did with what they received back is beyond me..!

Anyways, I'll let it run for the day and see what insights are caught and if there is not activity I'll repost it for new sets of eyes.

Thanks for the thought! Have a good day!

Tuesday Tip: Subscriptions & Notifications

TUESDAY TIPS are our way of communicating helpful things we've learned or shared that have helped members of the Community. Whether you're just getting started or you're a seasoned pro, Tuesday Tips will help you know where to go, what to look for, and navigate your way through the ever-growing--and ever-changing--world of the Power Platform Community! The best way to make sure you know what's going on in the News & Announcements, to blogs you follow, or forums and galleries you're interested in is to subscribe! These subscriptions ensure you receive automated messages about the most recent posts and replies. Even better, there are multiple ways you can subscribe to content and boards in the community! (Please note: if you have created an AAD (Azure Active Directory) account you won't be able to receive e-mail notifications.)   Subscribing to a Category  When you're looking at the entire category, select from the Options drop down and choose Subscribe.     You can then choose to Subscribe to all of the boards or select only the boards you want to receive notifications. When you're satisfied with your choices, click Save.   Subscribing to a Topic You can also subscribe to a single topic by clicking Subscribe from the Options drop down menu, while you are viewing the topic or in the General board overview, respectively.     Subscribing to a Label Find the labels at the bottom left of a post.From a particular post with a label, click on the label to filter by that label. This opens a window containing a list of posts with the label you have selected. Click Subscribe.           Note: You can only subscribe to a label at the board level. If you subscribe to a label named 'Copilot' at board #1, it will not automatically subscribe you to an identically named label at board #2. You will have to subscribe twice, once at each board.   Bookmarks Just like you can subscribe to topics and categories, you can also bookmark topics and boards from the same menus! Simply go to the Topic Options drop down menu to bookmark a topic or the Options drop down to bookmark a board. The difference between subscribing and bookmarking is that subscriptions provide you with notifications, whereas bookmarks provide you a static way of easily accessing your favorite boards from the My subscriptions area.   Managing & Viewing Your Subscriptions & Bookmarks To manage your subscriptions, click on your avatar and select My subscriptions from the drop-down menu.     From the Subscriptions & Notifications tab, you can manage your subscriptions, including your e-mail subscription options, your bookmarks, your notification settings, and your email notification format.     You can see a list of all your subscriptions and bookmarks and choose which ones to delete, either individually or in bulk, by checking multiple boxes.     A Note on Following Friends on Mobile Adding someone as a friend or selecting Follow in the mobile view does not allow you to subscribe to their activity feed. You will merely be able to see your friends’ biography, other personal information, or online status, and send messages more quickly by choosing who to send the message to from a list, as opposed to having to search by username.
