Need Advice for power apps performance

Hello, All. 

I need some advice regarding with Power Apps Peformance.

There are over 100,000 records in Dataverse and 4,000 users will frequently input, modify and query data through Power Apps. In this case, I wonder whether it's better to connect data if directly from Dataverse or once filtered and stored the data into 'Collection' and then load data by using Collect feature. 

I think, in the case of just querying data, Using Collect is of course faster than directly load from Datavesre but I'm worried that the more CRUD process occurs, the slower the performance will be.

I have tested it by using 1,000 records and I noticed that using collection is faster than Dataverse a little.

Can I trust this result or do you have any other recommendation or advice for this?

Any comments  would be appreciated.

It's always good to read/write to a database/source once your activity is completed. Connecting the database for each activity will impact as in your case it's like 4000 users.

Hi @Abhilash_Swain Thank you for your reply first. 

What I want to do is make sure that the initial loading time of powerapps is as short as possible, and that even in environments where there are many concurrent users, data updates and creation takes as short as possible. 

To do so, I'm considering whether data connections are made directly from Dataverse or the "Collect" function is used.

Yes, you can load initial data to a collection .use it in your gallery.

As you mentioned, on app load you are load

ng the data to the collection. Please make sure you are loading limited data. Currently, most of your delegable functions work well with 2000 items.

I am having a similar project where I need to work with millions of data per user. I am using ms flow to get data in batches from SQL and use it.

Unless there is a specific use case scenario for you to collect data into local collections (for example, for offline use, for reporting, or to overcome delegation issues), I recommend that you connect to the data source directly and not use collections.

• Collecting the data at load time will increase the load time of the app
• Collecting the data will not improve the speed of updating or creating records
• Collecting the data will involve more work, and you will need to work out a strategy of how to synchronise changes following the initial load

By using collections, you'll likely collect/retrieve more data than the user needs which is inefficient.

Let's assume you set the items property of the gallery control directly to the data source, or that you directly call the filter function with a delegable expression. If the user views 50 records through the gallery, the app will retrieve 50 records only. Power apps can also take advantage of the explicit column selection feature to retrieve only the fields that the gallery control displays.

If instead you collected 1000 records, you will have retrieved 950 records more than is necessary, including all the columns in those 1000 records that the user will never see. This unnecessary data could run into several megabytes, and you can use that to guage the negative impact this could have on performance.
