New Date Calculation issue

I am trying to count 180 days from now with the issue that the end date calculation cannot land on a weekend or a holiday.  i have a collection for my holidays collectHoliday im struggling with the syntax for not letting land on the weekend or holiday.  im trying right now just with it not landing a holiday but im missing a lot i know:

Text Label (Text)

------------------

With({OriginalDaysToAdd: 180},
With({HolidayCount:
CountIf(
ForAll(
Sequence(OriginalDaysToAdd,1,1),
If(
Text(DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate +OriginalDaysToAdd = DateValue(collectHoliday.HolidayDate)ShortDate),
1,0
)}
)
)

50 REPLIES 50

This is how im doing the Business Days + Holidays count

This label is for 15 Days

With({OriginalDaysToAdd: 10},
With({OriginalWeekendHolidayCount:
CountIf(
ForAll(
Sequence(OriginalDaysToAdd,1,1),
If( //If sat/sun
Weekday(DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,Value)) = 1 ||
Weekday(DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,Value)) = 7 ||
///OR holiday, if holiday falls on sat/sun will still only count as 1
DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,Value) in collectHoliday.HolidayDate,
1,0
)
),
Value=1
)},
//Get dates after the OriginalDaysToAdd that may have been
// a holiday/weekend instead of just adding without checking
With({SecondWeekendHolidayCount:
CountIf(
ForAll(Sequence(OriginalWeekendHolidayCount,1,1),
If( //sat or sun following those initial 15 days
Weekday(DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,(OriginalDaysToAdd+Value))) = 1 ||
Weekday(DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,(OriginalDaysToAdd+Value))) = 7 ||
DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,(OriginalDaysToAdd+Value)) in collectHoliday.HolidayDate,
1,0
)
),
Value=1
)},
With({ThirdWeekendHolidayCount: CountIf(
ForAll(Sequence(SecondWeekendHolidayCount,1,1),
If(
Weekday(DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,(OriginalDaysToAdd+OriginalWeekendHolidayCount+Value))) = 1 ||
Weekday(DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,(OriginalDaysToAdd+OriginalWeekendHolidayCount+Value))) = 7 ||
DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,(OriginalDaysToAdd+OriginalWeekendHolidayCount+Value)) in collectHoliday.HolidayDate,
1,0
)
),
Value=1
)},
With({FourthWeekendHolidayCount: CountIf(
ForAll(Sequence(ThirdWeekendHolidayCount,1,1),
If(
Weekday(DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,(OriginalDaysToAdd+OriginalWeekendHolidayCount+SecondWeekendHolidayCount+Value))) = 1 ||
Weekday(DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,(15+OriginalWeekendHolidayCount+SecondWeekendHolidayCount+Value))) = 7 ||
DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate,(OriginalDaysToAdd+OriginalWeekendHolidayCount+SecondWeekendHolidayCount+Value)) in collectHoliday.HolidayDate,
1,0
)
),
Value=1
)},
With({TotalDaysToAdd: OriginalDaysToAdd +OriginalWeekendHolidayCount + SecondWeekendHolidayCount + ThirdWeekendHolidayCount + FourthWeekendHolidayCount},
//FinalDate
Text(DateAdd(DatePicker.SelectedDate, TotalDaysToAdd),ShortDate)
)
)
)
)
)
)

and there is a collection for the holidays

ClearCollect(
collectHoliday,
{
HolidayName: "Thanksgiving",

},
{

}
);

I like the ones we have been working on better with the short dates statically added in the label because it gives flexibility for each item but in this section it would not count weekends as part of the day count.  Not sure how easy it is to use this format on those.

My problem with a holiday table is half the holidays of the year are not static dates, and using them as such requires trusting that in future if I ever leave my position, someone else will remember to update them yearly.

You can, however, properly collect the years Holidays in the OnStart of the App, as a table to be checked against, in a manner which will update itself daily.

Place this in your OnStart of the App, it will make you a collection of every Holiday 5 years before, and after today's date. You can then check holidays against this list.

Would look like this, then in every label all you need to change is the 1, 10, 14, etc for the number of days. And ofcourse do a similar formula on the months labels but alter the way we altered it to work for months earlier.

Text(
    If(
    DateAdd(
            DateAdd('Day 1_2'.SelectedDate,10,Days),
            Switch(
                    Weekday(DateAdd('Day 1_2'.SelectedDate,10,Days)),
                    7,2,
                    1,1,
                    0),
            Days)
    in
        HolidayCelebrate,
                            Switch(
                                  Weekday(DateAdd(DateAdd('Day 1_2'.SelectedDate, 10, Days),

                                    ShortDate)

you can also FURTHER alter the onstart HolidayCelebrate code if your company does the federal holidays when real holidays on a weekend thing (IE this year federal new years was monday january 2nd instead of sunday the first) by throwing a switch on each of the date check formulas to add a day if sunday, 2 if saturday, etc

***edited code to be more readable, lines were overflowing and it wasn't pretty here like it is in powerapps

This is awesome, thank you so much.  Im not a dev at all but i have been forced into that roll like being pushed into the deep end.  I can do the visual styling no issue but when it comes to the logic - .... Thanks again.  im going to put this all together and see how it comes out.

                )
            )

That will include all weekends in the holiday table we just made.

You can then simplify your labels to this

Text(
First(
Sort(
Filter(
ForAll(
        Sequence(7,0,1),
        With(
             {targetDate:DateAdd('Day 1_2'.SelectedDate,10+ThisRecord.Value,Days)},
             Switch(
                 Weekday(targetDate),
                 2, {Value:targetDate},
                 3, {Value:targetDate},
                 4, {Value:targetDate},
                 5, {Value:targetDate},
                 6, {Value:targetDate}))

        ), Not(Value in HolidayCelebrate)),Value,Ascending)).Value, ShortDate)

This finds all the dates from 10 (change this to 14, 21, etc.) days out to 7 days from that (the whole week from target date to the 7th day past it Mon-Sun, Sat-Fri etc) it then removes any date in this range, sorts it, and gives you the first date in that range that is neither on a holiday, or a weekend. Much easier to read than out previous creation.

Month Variation would read like

Text(
First(
Sort(
Filter(
ForAll(
        Sequence(7,0,1),
        With(
             {targetDate:DateAdd(
                             DateAdd('Day 1_2'.SelectedDate,1,Months),
                             ThisRecord.Value,Days)},
             Switch(
                 Weekday(targetDate),
                 2, {Value:targetDate},
                 3, {Value:targetDate},
                 4, {Value:targetDate},
                 5, {Value:targetDate},
                 6, {Value:targetDate}))

        ), Not(Value in HolidayCelebrate)),Value,Ascending)).Value, ShortDate)

This is fantastic.  The only thing i would have left to deal with is i have labels for:

10 Business Days

15

20

30

60

And these only count days that are weekdays and not holidays.

After that this app is complete and ready to publish.

"And these only count days that are weekdays and not holidays."

Can you clarify for me? The current table we are checking again contains every date that is a weekend and/or Holiday. So checking against this will already show only dates that are weekdays and not holidays.

Or are you saying you need another type of label that shows the weekdays and does not care if it is a holiday or not?
