On select and Visibility in popup

I have an app that has a gallery that has an icon that when clicked popups up a form in ViewMode, I have added a new button to create a new record.

On the New Record button I have this code:

UpdateContext({lclPopUp: "Info"});
NewForm(Form3_2)

Works great and opens the form correctly.

The issue is that if the user decides they do not want to create the new record and they click on the cancel button I want it to close the popup and return them to the gallery.

If i just hit the X for the whole setup it closes but leaves the two buttons visible and I am not sure sure how to get them to hide again when the form mode is NEW

Dorinda_1-1646938999742.png

When the form is selected from the gallery it works as expected

How do i get the funcationality to have it appear only when in New or Edit mode and to close when in NEW mode if the cancel button or the X in the popup are hit?

Show me the onselect of your new button, and visible of your form

On select New Button:

UpdateContext({lclPopUp: "Info"});
NewForm(Form3_2)

Visible on Form:

lclPopUp="Info" &&
If(Form3_2.Mode=FormMode.New, newversionVar, true)

Make that save record and cancel button visible, false and

You can make both button visibility in if(popupform.visible=true, true , false)

Simple

change onselect of new button to

set(newversionVar, true);
UpdateContext({lclPopUp: "Info"});
NewForm(Form3_2)

This is not exactly working as expected.  When I adjust to what you suggest it is bringing up the new form, however when I click on the cancel button it is closing the form but not the entire popup, and if it is in edit mode the Edit button doesnt show

Here is what is on the Cancel Button on select

Switch(
        Form3_2.Mode,
        0, ViewForm(Form3_2),
        Set(newversionVar,false))

 and cancel button visibility

lclPopUp = "Info" &&
If(Form3_2.Mode=FormMode.Edit || Form3_2.Mode=FormMode.New ,true, false)

Here is what is on the Edit Button on select;

Switch(
        Form3_2.Mode,
        2, EditForm(Form3_2))

and here is the visibility

lclPopUp = "Info" &&
If(Form3_2.Mode=FormMode.New && newversionVar=false || Form3_2.Mode=FormMode.View ,false, true)

So what needs to happen is when the form is new and they hit the cancel button it closes the popup down but if the form is in Edit mode the cancel button will just change the formmode from edit to view.

Also the edit button should appear when the form is in view mode.

Hope this helps

Going to list every button and icon i have below, their visibility & onselect (both if both have code, one of the two only when other is default). My code won't have the lclPopUp variable as it is not necessary for the functionality. I am not 100% sure what you are referencing when you say closes the form but not the "popup" but if its just like a shape behind your form for aesthetics, make its visibility have same value as the forms visibility and it should appear/disappear same as your form. Here we go.

First I have a

       <New Form> button, in my example its always visible so no change to its visible value, and an OnSelect of

NewForm(Form3_2);
Set(newversionVar,true)

Next to that I have a

      <View Form> button, also always visible so no special visible value, OnSelect it

ViewForm(Form3_2)

My

      <Form> has a visible value of

If(Form3_2.Mode=1, newversionVar, true)

Clicking on <New> gives you a form with the following buttons

     <Cancel>

              OnSelect of

Switch(
        Form3_2.Mode,
        0, ViewForm(Form3_2),
        Set(newversionVar,false))

Visible of

If(Form3_2.Mode=FormMode.New && newversionVar=false || Form3_2.Mode=FormMode.View ,false, true)

<Save>

Visible of

If(Form3_2.Mode=FormMode.New && newversionVar=false || Form3_2.Mode=FormMode.View ,false, true)

OnSelect of

Switch(
        Form3_2.Mode,
        0, SubmitForm(Form3_2); ViewForm(Form3_2),
        SubmitForm(Form3_2); NewForm(Form3_2);Set(newversionVar,false))

Clicking on <View Form> button gives you the form with a Edit Button

<Edit>

has OnSelect of

Switch(
        Form3_2.Mode,
        2, EditForm(Form3_2))

and a Visible of

If(Form3_2.Mode=FormMode.New || Form3_2.Mode=FormMode.Edit,false, true)

There is also an X Icon I placed at top right of form that appears in view mode,

<X Icon>

Onselect of

NewForm(Form3_2);
Set(newversionVar,false)

Visible of

And(Form3_2.Visible=true,Form3_2.Mode<>1)

Save and cancel buttons that appear when you click edit are the same ones from the New Form button, so do not need to be added again.

So to summarize,

My setup on my test app has

5 Buttons

  <New>

  <View>

  <Save>

  <Cancel>

  <Edit>

1 Icon

  <X Icon>

1 Form

  <Form3_2>

And functions like this,

    Click New Form, Get a form with blank data for you to input, this form has a cancel button to remove this form and all it's buttons without a submission, and a save button to submit the entry and close the form and all of it's buttons

    Click View button and it will display the form in view mode, showing the data you have selected (you will need to add the data selection method you are using to the view buttons on select but you haven't asked about that so I assume you have that down) The view mode has one button, edit, which switches form into edit mode which re-displays your cancel and save buttons, they do what you would expect, cancel goes back to view without saving, save will goto view and save. There is also an X in upper right of view/edit form that lets you just close the form.

Hope typing it all out in a single post helped out.

I have this functional on my side.

@TheRobRush

Thank you we are so close, everything BUT the cancel button is working as it should. What needs to happen is that if the new form is selected and they hit CANCEL it needs to close the form and popup, when the form is in view no buttons show which is working and when the edit button is selected that is working as well, the cancel button works as expected when the form is in EDIT mode but not when it is in NEW.

We are almost there and you are saving my bacon with your help!!!

Cancel button does close the form in the test app I have set up on my side, so going to need you to send the visibility and onselect of all your buttons, forms, and whatever the popup is how you have it written so I can see where you went wrong. 🙂 Almost there

Yes it works to close the form just not the popup and it is only required to close the popup when cancel is selected when the form is in NEW mode. everything else is working as expected per your instructions it is just the two criteria for the cancel that is not working.

I figured it out

Switch(
    Form3_2.Mode,
    0,
    ViewForm(Form3_2),
    Set(
        newversionVar,
        false
    )
    && UpdateContext({lclPopUp: Blank()}
))

by adding the updatecontext it fixed the last issue thank you so much!!
