Passing Only Certain Variables into a Form

Hi All,

I have made a signing in app for one of our sites that works great. I wanted to set up an option for previous visitors to just autofill their info to save time.

On the screenshot with the list of names this is displayed from my SharePoint list which is where all the names are stored when someone signs in or signs out. I know this could be more efficient but it works for now.

When I select the person I want to use the info from to sign in, it seems to pass through the info from the "Sign Out" column also so when I click save to sign in, it's filling in an old sign out date from a previous sign in. Is there anyway I can only pass through say, Name, Postcode and company instead of just passing everything?

Formula to pass over info is

Set(varCurrentRecord,ThisItem);
EditForm(Form1);
Navigate(scrVisitor);
Reset(tbSearchInput)

Ideally I need another way instead of using "ThisItem" so I can choose which variables I want to carry over.

Could you use a Patch instead of EditForm to only send certain fields?

What is the OnSelect code of your forms Save button?

Screenshot attached, so it patches in the form, and saves the signature as an image to sharepoint.

Shows a message, resets the signature box and then goes back to the home screen.

It's more the button that goes from the "Returning Visitors" to the page in the screenshot. As they are signing in, I don't want the sign out date passing through so I only want, name, postcode, and company to transfer over.

One more question. In your Site sign in list. Are you wanting to update the existing record everytime or do you want a new record for each sign in. You would want to do a NewForm instead of Edit form if you want a new record.

If you are wanting to edit the same entry each time, I would Patch an empty value to the TimeOut Column behind your signature in your Patch.

The Site Sign in list basically stores all the info when the user clicks save,

The returning customer screen should just be a quicker way for people who have already been on site to fill their details in by using an older entry stored in the list. The edit form on the screenshot attached is just editing the blank form with the details from the name they have selected. How would I go about patching individual parameters into the form?

I'm guessing you can't just do "Patch(Form1, Name) etc

Everything else works, its just the fact it is carrying over the "Time Out" details and this should be blank, so that they show up on the "Sign Out" page.

I've attached another screenshot where if I display the time out you can see it carries this over when I don't want it to as they are "signing in".

When you use an edit form you are editing a row that is already in your SharePoint list. So if timeout is in that row from a previous sign out it is going to be there.Not really carrying it over it is just still there. You need to overwrite it. The easiest way I can think of would be to add a sign out data card to your sign in form, set its default to no date or time. You can then hide it or make that data card view mode so it’s not editable. This way when the form edits it will overwrite with the blank sign out.

Ye, that makes sense,

The gallery that the data is passed to already contains the columns from the SP list so easy to add the "Time Out" card on, I changed the default to Blank() and put visible to "False" but it still shows up on the second screenshot. Unless I have done it wrong?

That screenshot is just your record in the list correct? Until you use a SubmitForm(Form1) somewhere nothing is actually edited. Anytime you use SubmitForm you actually write what is in your edit form to the list.
