Patch function not updating the record and there are no errors on OnSelect

Hello,

Maybe you can help me out with the below:

I am using the patch function to update my record. The formula is correct and does not give me errors but it does not update my record in SharePoint list as intended:

Patch('Intake Copy2',LookUp('Intake Copy2',[@ID]=IntakeGalery.Selected.ID),{Status:{Value:"Completed"}});SubmitForm(IntakeForm);

It seems correct but it is not updating the record when I click that button.

When I add a patch for a new record: it works, it creates a new record on completed:

Patch('Intake Copy2',Defaults('Intake Copy2'), {Status:{Value:"Completed"}});SubmitForm(IntakeForm);

For a context: I am building the App from scratch and connected to my existing ShatePoint List (IntakeCopy2)

I am not sure where the problem could be.

Many thanks in advance.

@timl thank you so much, this formula looks good on OnSelect, but again - when I click the button - the status does not change to completed..

My data type is choice column with several choices , only single choice possible

To confirm whether this is a caching issue, after you call patch, if you view the record outside of Power Apps in SharePoint, does SharePoint show the status as completed?

@timl  no, the status does not change on the sharepoint list itself ether (on the sharepoint website)..

Going back to something that you mentioned earlier:

>> The records also do not update even if I select the status manually and submit the form.

It's very unusual for a regular form (that's not been customised) to not work in this way. Therefore, can you verify that you're attempting to update the correct status field?

I notice in your screenshot there are 3 status fields - Status:EO Verification, Status:GTS Release, Status:Country Notification.

Are you sure that 'Status' refers to the field that you're intending to update?

@timl  so I figured that the status was not changed even when I was dong it manually because it was a separate dropdown which I first added and then connected to the Status field. If I add the Status Card from "Edit Fields" - the manual status selection is being updated on the  for, in my gallery and on the sharepoint list source.

I checked it several time: the field is correct, and the part of the formula with: {Status:{Value:"Completed"}} ,works fine if I use patch for new record. This formula does create a new record with status "Completed: on my form, in my gallery and  on the sharepoint list source: Patch('Intake Copy2',Defaults('Intake Copy2'),{Status:{Value:"Completed"}})

Strange enough, the update formula's don't give me errors OnSelect, but they simply do not change the fiel as intended. These a 22 formulas below that seems correct on OnSelect, but still not updating the field:

Patch('Intake Copy2',LookUp('Intake Copy2',[@ID]=IntakeGalery.Selected.ID),{Status:{Value:"Completed"}});

SubmitForm(IntakeForm)

Also the one you gave me seems correct, but not updating the field still:

UpdateContext(

    {

        lPatchedRecord: Patch(

            'Intake Copy2',

            LookUp(

                'Intake Copy2',

                [@ID] = IntakeGalery.Selected.ID

            ),

            {StatusGTS: {Value: "Completed"}}

        )

    }

);

If(

    IsBlank(lPatchedRecord),

    Notify(

        First(

            Errors(

                'Intake Copy2',

                lPatchedRecord

            )

        ).Message

    )

);

SubmitForm(IntakeForm)

It' really strange...

HI,Vaida

@RahulAnsari Thanks! but this formula does not work... I mean - I don't get any errors on it on OnSelect, but it's not changing the status to completed when I hit the button

To diagnose this further, I'd check that your call to lookup returns the expected record.

If you add this to a button and inspect the value of varRecord in the variables section of the editor, does it show the expected record?

Set(varRecord,
    LookUp('Intake Copy2',ID=IntakeGalery.Selected.ID)
)

Also, if you try patching some other text field, does that work? This will help determine whether the patch problem relates to the record, or specifically just the status field.

Patch('Intake Copy2',LookUp('Intake Copy2',ID=IntakeGalery.Selected.ID),
{Title:"Test update"})

@timl I tried it out with different statuses, like the "Assigned":  Copy2',[@ID]=IntakeGalery.Selected.ID),{Status:{Value:"Assigned"}}); SubmitForm(IntakeForm)

but it also don't work.

I am not sure if I understand where can I find the variables section of the edditior. Could you explain the a bit in more detail to me?

Many thanks for your support!
