Random Navigate

Hello everyone,

I am making a PowerApp quiz app, and I need to select 5 questions of a 25 questions list. All the questions are made with a Radio Button. So, the logic that I want to use is: 

-Create all the 25 question screens, named 0-24;

-Create a initial screen with a start button;

-Create a Collect function: "Collect(pag; 0;1; 2; 3; 4; 5; 6)" (here I finished in 6 because I only have made 7 question pages);

-Create a global variable, wich the value is something between 0 and 7: Set(random; RandBetween(0; 7))

-Pick the "random" variable number that corresponds in the "Collect(pag;...)" and put this number on a Navigate function, also removing it from the "Collect" ex:

The value of the"random" variable is 4. -> Pick the fourth element of the 'pag'. -> The fourth element is '3' -> Navigate to the page that has 3 as its name.

I am having trouble in this last part, I really don't know how to navigate through a Collect. I used to program in Python, where I can do this with this logic showed. What should I do?

consider the collection to have an id and screen, assume 3 screens, screen1, screen2, screen3:

collection:

ClearCollect(
    colSelectScreen,
    {id: 0, screen: Screen1},
    {id: 1, screen: Screen2},
    {id: 2, screen: Screen3}
)

random button:

Set(varRandom,RandBetween(0,2));
Navigate(LookUp(colSelectScreen,id=varRandom).screen)

result:

the screen corresponding to the random-number will be selected

Yes, it helped me in one part, thank you. As I will choose 5 random screens between 25, I also need to remove the screen from the collection after the app navigates to it, because I will randomize to another screen again after, and it can't be the same from before. Do you know a way to do that?

consider the following for the random button. this assumes you have a collection with 5 screens:

collection = colSelectScreen

ClearCollect(
    colSelectScreen,
    {id: 0, screen: Screen1},
    {id: 1, screen: Screen2},
    {id: 2, screen: Screen3},
    {id: 3, screen: Screen4},
    {id: 4, screen: Screen5}
)

OnSelect on random button

//get the current screens id
Set(varActiveScreenId,
    LookUp(colSelectScreen,screen = App.ActiveScreen).id
);
//create an array without the screen id in it
Set(varAvailableNumbers,Filter(colSelectScreen, id <> varActiveScreenId).id);
Set(varRandom,RandBetween(1,4));
Set(varGoToScreen,Index(varAvailableNumbers,varRandom).id);

//now navigate to the screen
Navigate(LookUp(colSelectScreen,id = varGoToScreen).screen)

I'm working on a simialr project and this is working great!

I have a question - how do you make the random navigation stop after 5 screens?

I have 15 screens. I want to have the random naivgation for 5 screens and then go to a final screen. Is this possible?

Hello!

I used a different flow for this. I had 20 screens with questions, and I splitted them in 5 different groups. The screen 1 to screen 4 was a group and it had a button to go to the next question, which was a question from the next group. Then, in the final group of questions (screen 16 to screen 20), I inserted a finish button, different to the others "Next question" buttons, because this one goes to my finish screen.

For your app, I think it wouldn't work as it worked for mine, but you can set a initial variable with a 0 value and when the user click to go to the next question, add 1 to this variable. Set this variable in your start button and put in all the next question buttons a code to increment 1 to this variable. Also, put a if statement on the top of your next question button checking if this variable is higher or equal to 5, then if it is, go to the finish screen.
