Records not loading all the time

Greetings,

New to Power Apps and have a small issue. I'm using Canvas Apps via Teams (not my issue, well it is, but not my current one 😃 just letting you know as there seems to be a difference between Canvas Apps and the regular Power Apps builder.

I have a screen that I populated with data from a Power Apps Table.  The Gallery is on the left with an Edit form on the right.  Pretty standard auto-setup from what I can tell   Well I put in a Search Box to search through several Columns, this all works as I expected, no issues.

The issue is when I first open the app, or reload it, and Navigate to the database screen from my Home Screen, there are no records showing. If I type anything in the Search Box then all the records will show.  Everything works like normal.  It's just that first Navigation.  I can even go back to the Home Screen and then back into the Database Screen and all the Records will be there.  But if I refresh the app, they don't show up until I do a Search.

If I remove the "Search" formula from the 'Items' section of the Gallery, then all the Records show up when opening the Database Screen.  Is there any way to auto-force a Data Table load or something when first Navigating to the page? Or is there something else that I'm missing?

Thanks in advance for any info or help with this.

Hi @RogersB,

What do you have for the default property for every one of your Columns that you search on? I rcommend placing double quotes (i.e. "" ) in the default property and see if that resolves it.

If it doesn't work, can you share what your gallery items property shows and what your search columns default property shows?

Best Wishes,
Matren

Matren,

Thanks for the response!  Apologies, but I'm not exactly sure what you are talking about with "default properties".

All the DataCards in the 'Edit Form' all show ThisItem.'Column Name' under the Default value field.. The DataCardValues don't  have a Default value field, just a 'Value' field and that shows Parent.Default.

Again, very new to this, but I have a feeling it's more along the lines of my Gallery not pulling the data from the Database Table. As soon as my Search function runs anything then the data is pulled and shown.

Thank you,

RogersB

Hi @RogersB ,

No worries.

For the DataCardValues of the columns that you are searching with, try this:

//Parent.Default (which makes it a comment in case you need to go back to it)

"" (yes, recommending you add double quotes)

Matren,

That didn't change anything.  Although I will give you a big thanks for the // information..  My notespad was getting full of copied formulas and I was forgetting where everything went.

Thank you,

Hi @RogersB,

Can you share your gallery items property and default property for the datacardvalue's that you are using to search?

Feel free to send kudos (thumbs up) on the post for the //comment.

Matren,

My gallery Items property is:

Search('Database',SearchBox.Value,"crc94_partnumber","crc94_partname","crc94_alternativepartnumber","crc94_serialnumber","crc94_remarks")

And my DataCardValue's do not have a Default property box.  I have a Value property box and I put the following in each of those.

""//Parent.Default

Thank you,

RogersB

Matren,

My data source is 'Database'.  So I changed the gallery Items property from 'Database' to the Search formula above.

Thank you,

Rogersb

Hi @RogersB,

Do you have to fill in every search box for records to show up? Or can you leave some blank and they will still show up?

Best Wishes,
Matren
