Ribbon Workbench with model driven app - Add Custom Button that is always visible

I have a model driven app. My main view contains a list of records in an editable grid. I am using Ribbon Workbench to customize my buttons in the command bar. 

In my main command bar I add two custom buttons, each with an enable rule that calls a custom java script. The javascript determines if the button is visible by checking a variable. The goal is to have a "edit" and a "unedit" button. When the "edit" button has been pushed, the "unedit" button is visible and the "edit" button is hidden and vice versa.

Everything is working as expected as long as no row in the grid has been selected. When I select one or more rows in the grid, both custom buttons are hidden. For me it seems that this is a default behaviour of the main command bar. 

How can I achieve that the buttons are not hidden, when rows are selected? Does anyone have an idea?

Hi @RolandM 

Within your Javascript that you have built, place a validation before displaying it that counts the number of selected elements and if it is greater than 1 that does not display any buttons.

It would be adding that initial condition and then if it is equal to 1, execute the logic that you already have built.

Using the new button bar command editor it would be similar, you would have to tell it if(countrows(table)>1,false, true) but this is similar to placing in the JS

The logic you describe would hide the button when any row is selected? This is the behaviour I have already. I would like to show the button also when a row is selected.

My JavaScript function which enabled the button returns true (meaning the button is enabled). Nevertheless the button is not displayed when a row is selected.

Yes, it would return because the first thing you are doing is counting the selected elements and this way you can do it

You can use the feth or pass the guid of the view you are referring to

Another thing you can do is directly add an enable rules

Thank you, but this is not the solution I need. I already have an enable rule that calls a java script as stated in my first post. My enable rule returns true and it returns also true when a row is selected, nevertheless the button is hidden.

After a lot of trial and error, I have now found a solution to my question.

So that my custom button is always visible, even if one or more rows are selected in the table, I have created an additional Enable Rule of the type "SelectionCountRule" in the RibbonWorkbench. I have defined 0 as the minimum count.

In the command of my buttons I call this new "Enable Rule" at the first position. Then the second rule, which evalutates my visibility logic is called. This ensures that the button is always displayed initially. Afterwards the visiblity is handled by my visibilty logic.
