Saving new entry on SharePoint list and flows

Hi @WarrenBelz

I’m a novice compared to probably most people here but I’m hoping to get some help regarding my SP list which I’m trying to create.

When adding a new entry via desktop, after completing the form, which doesn't have any required fields, and selecting save, nothing seems to happen. If I were to navigate to the same list and add a new entry via a mobile device, it successfully saves, albeit it doesn't look or perform how I would like to.

The ultimate goal is to have the entries saved (just the information added added in the form) and to have the new entry allocated a unique reference number. Once saved an email is then sent to the submitter confirming the enquiry has been successfully logged and has been allocated a reference number.

There are further flows I wish to add which I'm hoping to add myself but I just need to get to a point where entries are actually being saved.

Thanks for your help, hopefully it's not a tricky one.

Ok @MiniMe_83 ,

The ID number is done by simply adding the ID card to the form, or even simpler - two options - put a label in one of the cards (you will have to unlock it) with

ThisItem.ID

as the Text property or if you want to generally refer to it, use

SharePointIntegration.Selected.ID

For the currency, forget about modifying a Text item - create a new Numeric field in SharePoint and format it as Currency, then use Edit > Add Field to put the card on your Power Apps form.

Hi @WarrenBelz

Im a bit reluctant to remove a field from the form because when I come to replace it, or even add a new field, the location the new field is placed is at the end of the form and I'm unable to place it where I wish in an existing form without having to completely redo the whole form itself. I know I can adjust the size of the field boxes to make them fit where I want but in terms of which order they go in I find it tricky. Did I mention Im a novice 🙂

If you know of a trick I can use to replace the field so it is in fact a numerical / currency field I will appreciate to know how.

Thanks again for your help!!

Hi @MiniMe83 ,

You can change the format technically - I just have had some grief in SharePoint in the past with existing data and the column itself when changing things like this. If you want to do this, go ahead and it may work fine for you. As for rearranging cards in a Power Apps form, you just need to drag them up and down in the Edit Fields panel at the right.

Thanks @WarrenBelz

I’ll give it a try and will let you know.

Is there a way to change the view of a submitted item to a list when opening to review the data entered via the form? Now that entries are being saved, when reviewing them the format or arrangement of the data entered isn’t exactly pleasing nor is it intuitive.

I’ve successfully changed the view of the list by selecting which columns I want to display or hide. Which works fine.

I’m just trying to make it a bit more appealing to users.

Thanks again for your help!!!!

Hi @MiniMe_83 ,

Are you referring to the edit/new/view menu at the right? That is why the "Customize in Power Apps" function is there and is a whole new subject.

Hi @WarrenBelz

Thank you for the quick reply! I’ve customised the list in power apps, it’s when I go to view what has already been submitted via the customised list / form and has been saved to the list.

Is there away of changing this view?

Thanks gain

Hi @MiniMe_83 ,

Can you please send a screen shot of what you are taking about?

Hi @WarrenBelz

Please excuse the simplicity of my response. Number 1 is what is selected to create a new entry to the list, what the user will be presented with is, is  number 2. After saving the entry on the form, it is then saved in the list, number 3. When I open the entry I am presented with number 4.

Is there anyway of changing view of number 4 so all entries look better?

Hopefully it is clearer than mud!
