Send email ONLY ONCE when form is submitted

Hi,

Is there a way to send an email ONLY ONCE when a form is submitted by a user regardless of the times he hit on the Submit button?

My current situation:

• User edits a form and hits submit.
• An email will be sent automatically to the designated recipient.
• User forgets to edit some few fields, enters the info, and hits the Submit button.
• Email is sent to the user again.

In this situation, is there a way that only one email will be sent to the user? Either the first edit or the second one?

I would like to prevent bombarding emails to the recipients.

I think we have two options here:

1. trigger a flow from a CANVAS app. I believe this is the way you're doing it now? 
2. trigger a flow when an item is created in the SharePoint list and not when the item is modified.

I am just using a plain old email function through the PowerApps; not involving Flows. Although, I can see how your options will work, isn't there a way aside from not requiring Flow to do it?

As to your question, yes the user is editing an existing data.

hello @genarich,  I think one of the hacks you can do to solve this is to write a function.

Here is an example of how I think it can be fixed.

I don't know the name of your tables or columns, so I will be making assumptions so just follow along.

Assuming the name of your table is: Table1

The name of the column the emails in sharepoint are stored is Email

TextInput1 would be where you're getting the data for your emails on the form; this would be used to lookup in sharepoint data and send emails in your outlook email functions.

Write this function in the button on select property or the appropriate place

So this is what the function does:

The if condition is comparing the sharepoint list to check if email gotten from the TextInput1.Text (yours would be what you're getting your email data from) is present in the sharepoint list.

If the results is >= 1; meaning the sharepoint row list contains at least one of the emails then it will set the value to true

the true value would not do anything to the condition so no email will be sent.

But if the sharepoint row list is <1 then it will send an email to the recipient of the TextInput1.Text 

Note: You need to fill in the Outlook send email card function
