Set the dropdown value in second screen

Hi all,

I am new to power apps. while i am developing i tried to achieve this but it is not working,

Basically we are using two screens, User select the request type in screen1 then navigate to screen2.

I need to set the drop-down (which is in screen2) based on button click in screen1.

SharePoint is the back-end system.

Any suggestions,

We have done similar to this. We can store the screen 1 selection in global variable and screen 2 on visible property set the other dropdown field. Use default for that dropdown with array of only one previously selected value.

You can pass a context variable in the Navigate function. So for example you want to set the dropdown default value in the second screen, try doing this:

1) In Screen 1, add this to the OnSelect property of your button (replace ScreenName with the name of your screen and replace YourValueHere with your value:

Navigate(ScreenName, ScreenTransition.None, {varDropdownValue:YourValueHere})

2) In Screen 2, add this to the default property of your dropdown control

varDropdownValue

Controls are global in PowerApps.

You can set your second screen dropdown by referencing the control on screen 1.

ex.  Dropdown on screen one, user selects "Open".

   Dropdown on screen two, Default set to screen1DropdownName.Selected.Value

This all assumes that the dropdowns have the same Items property and signature.

You did not mention the data in those dropdowns, so that above was assumed.

Throwing error. Expecting record value. cannot assign vardropdownvalue to dropdown.  Any suggestion?

Hi @Anonymous 

Since it is needing a record value, you need to pass a record instead. Use a lookup function to return a record. So you can change the formula of the Navigate function into something like this:

Navigate(ScreenName, ScreenTransition.None, {varDropdownValue:Lookup(YourDataSourceHere, YourColumnNameHere = YourValueHere)})

Please find my attachments.  Screen1 contains Add Job button. Screen 2 contains Request type data-card . In this data-card i need to set the value.
