Hi All,

I am working on a SharePoint List based PowerApps Canvas Form. My Canvas has two tabs (Tab A and Tab B) that displays different forms (Form A and Form B). Note that these are different forms in same screen, not different screens. Everything seems to be working except setting Form A as my default form.

Mainly the problem is that if I open the form in SharePoint, move to Tab B/Form B and then close the form. Upon re-opening, it defaults to Tab B/Form B instead of expected Tab A/Form A. It does not matters whether I try New, Edit or Display form, it open Tab B/Form B unless I refresh the browser or close & re-open the browser.

I have also tried setting the variables on the App->OnStart and Screen->OnVisible actions as per the blog from Laura (https://wonderlaura.com/2018/01/03/powerapps-tabbed-sharepoint-form/). I placed a label on my app to see if the variable is being updated correctly. It does set correctly on Initial load, but after closing the form and re-opening, it seems to be persisting the last value instead of resetting, until I refresh or close & re-open the browser.

Can anyone in the community please guide me on what step am I missing here?

How do you control the Tab A/Tab B visible in your canvas app? Could you please share more details about the formula?

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I think you have some misuderstanding on the running mechanism of the custom form in your SP List.

When you click "+ New"/"Edit" or View existing items in your SP List first time, the custom form app launches. When you made some changes your SP List, and close your Edit form, the Edit form is actually hidden from your SP List rather than closed. It still be running in the backend. Unless you refresh your browser, the custom form would be closed and re-loaded.

According to the issue that you mentioned, I think the OnNew, OnEdit and OnView property of SharePointIntegration could achieve your needs. Please consider take a try with the following workaround:

Set the OnNew property of SharePointIntegration control to following:

Refresh('Your SP List');
Set(TabState, "TabA")    // Add this formula
NewForm(FormA);NewForm(FormB)

Set the OnEdit property of SharePointIntegration control to following:

Refresh('Your SP List');
Set(TabState, "TabA")    // Add this formula
EditForm(FormA);EditForm(FormB)

Set the OnView property of SharePointIntegration control to following:

Refresh('Your SP List');
Set(TabState, "TabA")   // Add this formula
ViewForm(FormA);ViewForm(FormB)

Set the OnSelect property of the "TabA" to following:

Set(TabState, "TabA")

Set the OnSelect property of the "TabB" to following:

Set(TabState, "TabB")

Set the Visible property of the FormA to following:

If(
    TabState = "TabA",
    true,
    false
)

Set the Visible property of the FormB to following:

If(
    TabState = "TabB",
    true,
    false
)

Please consider take a try with above solution, check if the issue is solved.

Thanks for the link. I reviewed the video from Shane Young. It has similar requirement but it is implemented as a Stand-alone Canvas app, that uses a Gallery control.

My scenario is when it is a Customized PowerApp List form, similar to how Laura Rogers has done. The concept in both Shane and Laura's implementation is same i.e. to set a variable and display the form accordingly. As I mentioned, it works great on initial load for me. But when I close the form and re-open it shows the 2nd Tab instead of 1st Tab, and the variable is not resetting to desired value until I refresh the page.

You need to reset the default in the OnVisible property of the screen containing the form if you navigate off of it and then come back again.

Reset function works only on controls not on variables. I am Setting the variable in the OnVisible property of the FormScreen. Refer the screenshot below. Value of this variable shows correctly on the first user flow. Once the user closes the SharePoint List Form and opens again, it shows the value as "True", instead of the expected "False" as the value.

It must be being reset somewhere else on the form after you open it. You will need to track it down. Look in the View>Variables part of the app to see where the variable is being used. Otherwise a way to troubleshoot it is to change the name of the variable say from varShowInterest to varTest only in the Visible property of each form and in the OnVisible property of the screen.

So based on your suggestion, I thought that I will create a String variable and set it to some value in the OnVisible action of the Screen. I then put this variable on a Label's text property. What I found is that this variable is not getting set via the OnVisible action, only when I set it via an OnSelect action of a button, I see that the value is getting set/updated correctly. Does that means that the OnVisible action is not executing the Set function correctly?

I don't use SharePoint integration so I don't know the answer to that but possibly yes. Perhaps you could put it in the OnSuccess property of the form so that it triggers once it is submitted.

OnSuccess would work, only if the form is being submitted. But what if the user closes the form without submitting? I have tried putting it OnCancel action as well, but still the issue remains the same.
