SharePoint Online list filtering breaks interaction with custom form

I am relatively new to SharePoint and Power Apps but have encountered an issue after implementing a pretty basic custom form for a SharePoint Online list.  Note: this isn't a complete standalone Power App, just a custom SharePoint Online list form.

When the list is displayed unfiltered, interaction with the custom form works great, but as soon as I apply a filter to the list, I can no longer see the custom form.  It doesn't matter if I access the Edit button in the top-menu, click the Title column link or double-click on the list item - none of the usual methods to open the form work.  This is seen across different browsers too.

There are two workarounds - if I refresh the browser page, the filters are intact and form interaction works again.  I can also access "Details" for a list item from the context menu to get the form to show - if I had previously clicked the Edit button or Title column link, the form will appear over top of the details pane immediately almost like the browser had the form ready to go but was just stuck.

Is this a known issue?

Edit: just wanted to add that if I revert the list's "Form Settings" to use the standard form, then there are no problems accessing the form when filtering the list.

I believe form settings should be "Use a custom form created in Powerapps" to use custom form with Powerapps.

Hi @matthewpf

Can you share a little more information about the configuration and your data model? This way we might be able to help you better.

Hope this Helps!

This is already configured.  I have indicated that I can get the custom form to show as expected if I don't touch filters or, when I have adjusted the filters, the form will show after use of workarounds.

I'm sorry, I really don't know what you need?

I have a pretty basic setup:

  • SharePoint Online list with a mix of single line text and multi line text columns
  • I have configured a custom form in Power Apps which uses a single screen.
  • The custom form has been working as expected until a user showed me that after filtering the list, the form  would no longer show but it does work after implementing one of the workarounds as mentioned (e.g. refresh the browser tab)

@matthewpf ,

What are the Items of the Form, what is the Filter Text  and where is it being used?

@WarrenBelz

Thanks for checking in.  I'm not sure how much information you need so I will provide a little for now and we'll go from there.

This is the filter:

matthewpf_2-1625998972567.png

Both of these fields are "Single line of text" type of field.  It's a pretty basic filter which produces 1 list item.  And then I can't open the list item as I described in my OP until I trigger some network traffic by opening Details or if I close the Filter and then re-open it, that gets things working again.

The view which can be seen in the screenshot includes the columns highlighted:

Nothing special going on here in terms of types of fields?  The fields which are "Multiple lines of text" do contain a couple of paragraphs of text.

This was my first ever Power App integrated with a SharePoint list so the Form settings are all the defaults:

@matthewpf ,

Your Items are standard SP Integrated (although you can change it to SharePointIntegration.Selected and get rid of the Delegation warning (which MS still have not fixed), but that is not your issue. I am also assuming you have not changed the OnEdit, OnNew, OnView or OnSave standard code in SharePointIntegration

When you refer to the Filter - are you saying the user applies a filter on a column in SharePoint then chooses "Edit" from the top menu and the form does not appear without a refresh? I have struck that on infrequent occasions on the double-click, but it always works on edit. I just tested a couple of lists here with about a dozen items and it  all worked 100%. Is this your issue?

Nope, no funny business going on for the integration configuration:

Yes, that's exactly what I'm referring to - double-click, the context-menu "Edit" and the toolbar "Edit" functions do nothing.  As soon as I trigger some other operation which requires network connectivity (e.g. Details / Properties or open the Filter again) then the form comes right up like the operation was queued or something.

@matthewpf ,

I cannot replicate it and it is not the expect behaviour. You have not changed anything (such as the settings you have confirmed are standard) that could make this happen.

The fact that it works after a refresh is intriguing as I often have issues with some non-standard elements of integrated forms such as Variables set at App OnStart or galleries using Filters to another list do not always refresh if you select another record after the first one (a refresh always fixes it and my users are accustomed to it).

It sounds like a similar issue that the app is not finding the SharePointIntegration.Selected to display.

I assume you have tried clearing the browser cache.
