Sharepoint PowerApps Customised Form Opening Wrong Form OnEdit

Hi,

I am new to PowerApps and struggling with a form that I am creating to populate a SharePoint list.

My form has three screens - Create, Edit and Show:

I have added a dropdown box to the 'Create' form that allows the user to select 'draft' or 'submit'.  I have then used this formula in the SharePointIntegration OnEdit command:

My intention is that selecting the 'Draft' option allows the user to return to the form later and make changes before submitting it; anything other than 'Draft' only allows the user to view the form and not make changes.

The problem is that when I select an item on my SharePoint list and click Edit, the form usually opens up in the wrong form mode.  e.g. the item has status 'Draft', should open in Edit mode but opens in View mode.  If I then cancel and try again, the form will open correctly in Edit mode. Alternatively, if I open an item from my SharePoint List that has been 'Submitted', it should open in 'View' only but opens in 'Edit' mode.  Once again, cancelling out and trying again corrects the problem.

The only time the problem doesn't arise is when I try to look at one item and then follow on by trying to look at another item with the same status - the latter will open in the correct form mode first time.

Hi,

so for my understanding, you are submitting the data to SharePoint even if it is a draft, but you submit the status to SharePoint.

There are several possibilites:

1. If the items which are submitted don't need to be viewed from inside the app you could just filter the items with draft status from SharePoint so submitted items couldn't be modified since they would not appear in your ViewScreen.
2. Navigate to EditScreen if Status is not submitted and otherwise navigate to EditScreen.
3. While you navigate to EditScreen you can set a variable and depending on this variable you can set the Default FormMode to either Edit or View.

Thank you for your reply.

You are correct - I am submitting the data to SharePoint and I have a column that captures 'Draft' or 'Submitted'.  I thought my onEdit formula was using IF to look at this column and if it's set to 'Draft' navigate to the EditForm , else navigate to the ViewForm.

I like your first option but I would like to have an all items view where the user can look at any form by clicking the SharePoint Edit button - I just want to  be able to edit if it's Draft and only view if it's anything else (i.e. submitted).

Regarding your other two options, unfortunately I'm not technically gifted enough to know what I would need to do.  Any further guidance would be much appreciated.

Just an update on my issue:

• I have recreated my SharePoint list and customised form in another SharePoint site.  My issue is still there.  Does that point to a formula issue?
• If I double click on a list item and select 'Edit all', the form opens as expected - edit mode for 'Draft' items and view mode for 'Submitted' items.  I thought the OnEdit formula would work the same for 'Edit' and 'Edit all' - am I wrong?

Hi,

in a 3-Screen App your OnSelect Formula could be the following for navigating to either EditScreen or DetailScreen depending on the Status:

If(ThisItem.Status="Submitted";Navigate(DetailScreen; ScreenTransition.None);Navigate(EditScreen; ScreenTransition.None))

Your formula looks great, I prefer to think the issue is due to the integration between SharePoint and PowerApps.

I would suggest you first clear the cache of browsers, then modify the logic criterion of OnEdit formula as follows.

If(LookUp('SP list', ID= SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID).'CC Approval Status'.Value= "Draft", <true statement>,<false statement>)
