Updating SharePoint List 'Person or Group' field type from ComboBox

Hello dear community!

I'm trying to create Power App which will display some data for users to let them check things by themselves and make some minor changes. For that, I've created list on SharePoint, which contains all necessary data. One of the fields is 'People or Group' type, which should hold people to which particular entry is assigned.

I created Power App which displays for current user their assigned items like this:

Filter(SharepointListName, User().Email in Ownership.Email)

I also wanted to give possibility to display more information about particular item on this list. I done that by creating button which opens new screen for particular item like this:

Select(Parent); Navigate(SecondScreen,ScreenTransition.Fade,{SelectedItem: Gallery1.Selected})

On a second screen beside additional information about particular entry, I also created Edit Form which should allow to change Ownership for this particular item selected from previous screen. ComboBox inside this Form should be able to select people from whole organization.

Datasource for form is set to "SharePointListName", Item is set "SelectedItem". For ComboBox I found a way to be able to search for people in organization like this:

Items = Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm:DataCardValue10.SearchText,top:10})

To this moment everything works perfectly fine. The problem starts when I found additional people I wanted to add as owner for particular entry to actual SharePoint list. I've created a Button which is suppose to work as Save. For that I defined action OnSelect:

Patch(SelectedItem,  LookUp(SharepointListName, ID=SelectedItem.ID), {Ownership:DataCardValue10.SelectedItems})

But what I can see as an error:

EvenThis_1-1657698323976.png

And I got lost here. Tried to use SubmitForm(FormName) but this didn't work. I rather newbie in Power Apps area, so maybe I overcomplicated thing how I'm trying to do it, but doing my best 😊 Appreciate if someone could guide me how to fix it, also suggestions how to perform that in a better way are also most welcome 😃

--EDIT--

So I checked once again with assigning OnSelect action for my Button to SubmitForm(FormName). It actually removes users with success, but when I'm trying to add people - it doesn't add new ones. It only deletes 😅

Ok, I figure it out at last. As I understand it, there was a problem with correct mapping for users. What I've change to make it work:

For button from gallery for particular entry I added to OnSelect action:

ForAll(
    GalleryName.Selected.Ownership,
    Collect(
        colCurrentOwnership,
        {
            //'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
            Claims: ThisRecord.Email,
            Mail: ThisRecord.Email,
            Department: ThisRecord.Department,
            DisplayName: ThisRecord.DisplayName,
            JobTitle: ThisRecord.JobTitle,
            Picture: ""
        }
    )
);

Next, for ComboBox in EditForm I change following:

Items = (Office365Users.SearchUserV2({searchTerm:cmbOwnership.SearchText,top:10})).value
DefaultSelectedItems = colCurrentOwnership

And for Button inside EditForm responsible for saving I added this:

ClearCollect(colNewOwnership,Blank());
ForAll(
    cmbOwnership.SelectedItems,
    Collect(
        colNewOwnership,
        {
            '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
            Claims: ThisRecord.Mail,
            DisplayName:ThisRecord.DisplayName,
            Email:ThisRecord.Mail,
            Department:ThisRecord.Department,
            JobTitle:ThisRecord.JobTitle,
            Picture:""
        }
    )
);
Patch(
    SharePointListName,
    LookUp(SharePointListName,ID = SelectedItem.ID),
    {
        Ownership: colNewOwnership
    }
);

All of above combined allowed me to add and remove new owners 😁

Leaving this if someone will have similar problem.

Hi @EvenThis ,

Have you enabled multiselect in your SharePoint list for the Ownership column? This should allow SubmitForm to work without issues.

Yes, I have that selected. As I checked now, I'm able to remove people (using SubmitForm), but adding new ones doesn't work.

I tried to play with that form. I've added new form which has all fields available to edit, just for test. Using this form, I'm able to edit text field, date, but somehow I'm not able to add new people. Deleting works.

Also, I noticed strange thing. By default, when adding new EditForm, ComboBox responsible for picking people has this configuration:

EvenThis_0-1657785315127.png

But when I'm actually using it, it shows only DisplayNames without emails. When I tried to change secondary text, I can see that there is no field called Email, it's just Mail. With that configuration:

I can see actual emails on a picking list, but still I'm unable to add new people to that field. Is this possible that "mapping" object field which comes from this control, cannot be matched with people which are supposed to be on a SharePoint list and that why they are not added, but they are able to be removed?

            Claims: ThisRecord.Email,
            Mail: ThisRecord.Email,
            Department: ThisRecord.Department,
            DisplayName: ThisRecord.DisplayName,
            JobTitle: ThisRecord.JobTitle,
            Picture: ""

            Department:ThisRecord.Department,
            JobTitle:ThisRecord.JobTitle,
            Picture:""
        }
    )
);
Patch(
    SharePointListName,
    LookUp(SharePointListName,ID = SelectedItem.ID),
    {
        Ownership: colNewOwnership
    }
);

All of above combined allowed me to add and remove new owners 😁
