the field is not auto updating

I have a drop down field called reporting line, to select the choice to classify who is the manager and who is the director.

after selected the reporting line, use the below formula to get the correspondence person email

LookUp('Reporting Line', 'Display Name'=ThisItem.'Report Manager'.Value).'Manager E-Mail'

However, I find that after the dropdown menu update, the correspondence email text field is not able to auto update, I need to save, go out, and come in this details screen again in order to get this update automatically.

Can any one give me a suggestion to solve this problem? Thank you

find out additional information, the "colreporting" is created as collection, however, its only get all the headings, didn;t get any of the data, what is happening? the data preview of first 5 items is empty, but i am sure I have more than 10 items in the source list

Oh Yes, I just realize I can right click and run onstart. I always click on the upper right hand corner to preview the apps.

actually, the yellow warning mark is solved.

but the field is not updated automatically.

Let me explain it in details.

i have a reporting line sharepoint list in below

Display name	Manager	Manager email	Director	Director Email
Youth	Amy	amy@hotmail.com	Helen	helen@hotmail.com
Counselling	Tom	Tom@hotmail.com	John	john@hotmail.com

I have a dropdownbox1 in another sharepoint list "Claim", which is the pull down options refer back to the value of "Display name" in sharepoint list "reporting line"

When I select the "Youth" in this Team field, on the other hands the Manager field and Director field need to show up "Amy" and "Helen" Respectively.

up to this stage, everything is fine.

However, when I edit the team field from "youth" to "Counselling", the Manager field and Director field do not update at the same time, even I press the save button, the field is still have the value of "Amy" and "Helen" , not "tom"and "John".

this result the value error.

is there any coding can force the field update immediately?

otherwise, I am getting a details screen with value of "youth" but manger is "tom" and "John"

Going back to the start, you have this

LookUp('Reporting Line', 'Display Name'=ThisItem.'Report Manager'.Value).'Manager E-Mail'

the bit that has me confused is you refer to a drop down, but are filtering on 

ThisItem.'Report Manager'.Value

 which would be a gallery selection. A drop-down would be 

YourDropDownControlName.Selected.Value

oh yes, you are correct.

I am quite new to the powerapps, and most of the code is what I failed many time to made it out.

Since the code is ok to generate the correct result to me, I didn't realize what is the better code.

Thank you very much, I change to your code, and the field is able to update immediately when I change the dropdown.
