Hello Friends,

On My Gallery of my Homescreen Page, I have set the below code.

Set(_selectedTutorial, ThisItem);
If(
ThisItem.ID = 1, Navigate(HomeScreen, None),
ThisItem.ID = 2, Navigate(ProcessKnowledgeTestScreen, None),
ThisItem.ID = 3, Navigate(ExceptionListScreen, None),
ThisItem.ID = 4, Navigate(ApproverScreen, None),
ThisItem.ID = 5, Navigate('Bulk Approval AHTExceptionScreen', None),
ThisItem.ID = 6, Navigate(Summary, None),
ThisItem.ID = 7, Navigate(FAQScreen, None)
);

Is working fine

Now I want to restrict the user as per the role to disabled the rows of the Gallery.

akbarmahfuzalam_1-1599146775622.png

I can use the below code on the button on DisplayMode property.

If(
varRole in ["Trainer" , "Administrator"], DisplayMode.Edit,
DisplayMode.Disabled

)

But How do I achieve inside the Gallery?

Second, My Hamberger Icon is also not collapsing or expanding when click.

OnSelect

Set(IsExpand, !IsExpand)

Yes, to make sure your Gallery looks right, let's just set it to true for now.  It's an easy change-back for later.

I see in your image that you have a Gallery showing and that there are images showing in it.  The only thing missing is your Labels and it appears that your Gallery width is only the width of the images. You might want to expand that a bit wider so your labels show.

@akbarmahfuzalam

So here is a suggestion for menus from Galleries.  Put the following in place.  Please replace the names in the formulas to fit your scenario.

The Menu Gallery:

Set the Items property to:

Table(
    {ID:1, Desc:"Home", nav:HomeScreen, disp:true, img:homeImage},
    {ID:2, Desc:"Trainers", nav:ProcessKnowledgeTestScreen, disp:varRole in ["Trainer" , "Administrator"], img:trainersImage},
    {ID:3, Desc:"Team Lead", nav:ExceptionListScreen, disp:varRole in ["TeamLead" , "Administrator"], img:TeamImage},
    {ID:4, Desc:"Shift Lead", nav:ApproverScreen, disp:true, img:shiftImage},
    {ID:5, Desc:"Ops lead", nav:'Bulk Approval AHTExceptionScreen', disp:true, img:opsImage},
    {ID:6, Desc:"Reports", nav:Summary, disp:true, img:reportsImage},
    {ID:7, Desc:"FAQ", nav:FAQScreen, disp:true, img:FAQImage}
)

Set the OnSelect action to false

Set the Visible property to IsExpand

Within the Gallery, have an Image control and a Label control.  For this example, Image is Image1 and Label is Label1

Image1:

    Set the Image control Image property to: ThisItem.Img

    Set the OnSelect action to : Select(Label1)

Label1:

    Set the Text property to: ThisItem.Desc

    Set the OnSelect action to: Navigate(ThisItem.nav, None)

    Set the DisplayMode property to : If(ThisItem.disp, Edit, Disabled)

That should give you a nice functioning menu and will have the ability to control what is enabled and disabled directly in the Items property of the Gallery.

You can also change the row of the menu to be completely not there (if the user does not have access to it).  To do so, make the following change to the Items property of the Gallery:

Filter(
    Table(
        {ID:1, Desc:"Home", nav:HomeScreen, disp:true, img:homeImage},
        {ID:2, Desc:"Trainers", nav:ProcessKnowledgeTestScreen, disp:varRole in ["Trainer" , "Administrator"], img:trainersImage},
        {ID:3, Desc:"Team Lead", nav:ExceptionListScreen, disp:varRole in ["TeamLead" , "Administrator"], img:TeamImage},
        {ID:4, Desc:"Shift Lead", nav:ApproverScreen, disp:true, img:shiftImage},
        {ID:5, Desc:"Ops lead", nav:'Bulk Approval AHTExceptionScreen', disp:true, img:opsImage},
        {ID:6, Desc:"Reports", nav:Summary, disp:true, img:reportsImage},
        {ID:7, Desc:"FAQ", nav:FAQScreen, disp:true, img:FAQImage}
    ),
    disp
)

This will filter out the rows that the user cannot access.

I hope this is helpful for you - and, I know I have a couple messages from you to get to, I just was dropping on the forum here and saw your post...thought I would give a reply.

Oh, just noticed the screenshot of your Gallery.

So, replace Label1 in my formula to Title6

and Image1 to image9

not sure what the rectangle is, but if it has a purpose, then all good.

@RandyHayes ,

Thanks for your detail reply.

My image is lying in the gallery is coming from SP List as an Attachment

First(ThisItem.Attachments).AbsoluteUri

So How would named it as homeImage

akbarmahfuzalam_0-1599149948671.png

And my MenuGallery item set to be Menu4SCTOOL.

@akbarmahfuzalam

Is there any particular reason to have the menu in a SharePoint list?

You could keep it there, but you will have a lot more logic needed in your formulas to work with it that way.

If you keep it there, I would suggest adding the columns to the list for access and also navigation.  But you can't reference things by Name in PowerApps, so you would have to put in string-to-name logic to make the navigation work.

Something like this:

Put a nav column, and a ForRole column in your list.  In those columns, put the corresponding screen name and the concatenated role name.

ex for Item 2:  nav - "ProcessKnowledgeTestScreen"  ForRole - "Trainer|Administrator"

Leave the ForRole empty for items that all can access.

If you want the "disabled" look, then leave the Items property as-is.

If you want the row gone if they don't have access, then set the Items property to:

Filter(Menu4SCTOOL, IsBlank(ForRole) || varRole in ForRole)

Then, you will have to do the string-to-name logic on the OnSelect of the label.

Navigate(
    Switch(ThisItem.nav,
        "Home", HomeScreen,
        "ProcessKnowledgeTestScreen", ProcessKnowledgeTestScreen,
        "ExceptionListScreen", ExceptionListScreen,
        "ApproverScreen", ApproverScreen,
        "Bulk Approval AHTExceptionScreen", 'Bulk Approval AHTExceptionScreen',
        "Summary", Summary,
        "FAQScreen", FAQScreen
    )
)

I would go with names rather than ID's as you might have to change something in your list at some point and the ID could be different - you'd have to modify your app to correct it.  If you stick with the screen name as text, then it will not change nor have to be changed.

As for the Image, you could leave that how you have it.

But, all that said - I'd still consider why you might have the menu in a SharePoint list.

@RandyHayes

Please give me a simple solution. This seems to be going out of the head.

The simple thing I want

1. How do make the Hamberger Menu which can be hidden but the icon(Image will be there)

2. I have 7 lists viz, Home, Team Lead, Trainer, Shift Lead, OPS Lead, Reports, FAQ, and Support.

3. I want to restrict or disable the Rows as per their Role.

How do I achieve that in a very simple manner? Not with complicated formula because I am learning as well with your Tips and Tricks.

@akbarmahfuzalam

That is the same formula you had before.  It is not complex.  Having a menu in a list is a complexity you don't really need, but if you wish to keep it there, then you have the option I presented.

1) For the hamburger menu, I provided that as well...set your Gallery visible property to the IsExpand variable you set on the menu icon.

2) Understood - you have 7 menu items that are coming from a SharePoint list with pictures as attachments.

3) The formulas I gave you will do what you need - just choose which one works best for your scenario.

If you have specifics on those options or formulas, just mention it.

@RandyHayes

I am sorry It's not working for me.

What Formula and to what Properties do I need to select if I want to restrict to Role wise and if that is not the user disabled.

OnSelect of the Gallery

Set(_selectedTutorial, ThisItem);
If(
ThisItem.ID = 1, Navigate(HomeScreen, None),
ThisItem.ID = 2, Navigate(ProcessKnowledgeTestScreen, None),
ThisItem.ID = 3, Navigate(ExceptionListScreen, None),
ThisItem.ID = 4, Navigate(ApproverScreen, None),
ThisItem.ID = 5, Navigate('Bulk Approval AHTExceptionScreen', None),
ThisItem.ID = 6, Navigate(Summary, None),
ThisItem.ID = 7, Navigate(FAQScreen, None)
);

@akbarmahfuzalam
Are you planning to stick with SharePoint as your menu source?

I'd strongly recommend removing that dependency and placing this information directly in your App.  It will be much easier to deal with and maintain.

Is there a reason it is in SharePoint?  If so, then we can proceed with that.  But if you want simple, I'd move it out.

@RandyHayes ,

There is no reason as such we can remove that dependency.

I am removing it. Now I will write the code on Start of an app

And adding all the images from media. And the use the formula
