update textbox after patch

Hi,

I'm creating a small expense app where people can give in het nbr of KM's they have done.

They always have a route from point A to B and then again from B to A. (These are 2 seperate values)

In the on change of these 2 input boxes I have a patch command that writes the value to a sql Azure, and also writes the value of route1 + route2 to a total field, and then also the Total * default amount to the amount field in the table. This all works fine!

What doesn't work is to get the value into the textbox of total and amount. In other words I can't trigger a refresh of the values so that the calculation become available in the screen.

Some additional info: I have a gallery where on select I pass the selected record to a variable. This variable is used in the Form.Item field. (This was needed to overcome the issue of the gallery always resetting to first record on patch command)

Does anyone have an idea on how to get the values to the textbox?

Hello,

you can add on the OnSelect property a refresh function to refresh the table.

ex: Refresh(table name)

Not really possible to add a screenshot at the moment. But the design is:

On the left a gallery. On the right a Form, with on the form several textboxes that are filled with data depending on the line selected in the gallery.

If there is something specific you are looking for, let me know.

What on select property are you referring to? If it is of the textbox with the amount or total I guess this won't work since they are not editable.

I've tried to add an second command in the OnChange of the textbox, but I'm not able to.

You have stated that you have a form but yet also are patching - can you elaborate on that more?  You should be using only the SubmitForm function on your form.

Are Total and amount both in the Form?  Are they based on the record written?  If so, then in the OnSuccess of the form, you simply need to set your variable that the form is based on to the submitted record - Set(yourVar, Self.LastSubmit)

But, if you are skipping the form functionality with a Patch, this will not help.

So, it kind of hinges on the first two questions.

I started using the patch since the submitForm wasn't working. No error, just no update to the DB.

SubmitForm works well, so it would be good to find out the issues and get yours to work properly.  That will help resolve the issues you are having as well as you'll be able to apply the methods I described.

There are no messages, nor any indication of what is happening.

The OnSucces message is shown when SubmitForm is called, but no actual writing is done to the table.

Next to that I also like the idea of not having to push the save button when fields are changed, but this is done automatically when changing the input boxes. So I would prefer to get this to work with refreshing.

Hi,

Finally got it to work.

I have a gallery that on select passes the record in a variable.

Patch commands on all textboxes and other input fields.

Saw that calling the calling the refresh immediately after the patch command wasn't working, so added a timer of 500 ms to repopulate the variable with the selected gallery record. This works fine now!
