Label Field not updating in Sharepoint Record

Hi all,

Very much new to Power Apps, and having an issue on something which is likely quite basic. Appreciate any feedback.

I have a 2 Sharepoint lists, one containing the records and another that contains Merchant Names and Merchant IDs. Idea is to allow list 1 to automatically input the corresponding Merchant ID when a record is created/updated. 

The lookup seems to work: LookUp(MerchantID, MerchantName= Dropdown2.Selected.Value, MerchantID) populates the Merchant ID label in the form as expected. However, I cannot get the created/saved records to display this in the list.

Likely an issue with the Update of the label:

I've tried a few different things for this field, but no luck thus far. Can anyone help to point me in the right direction?

This is a weird one. Let's try putting in some error flagging to see if we can nail down what's going on here. Please put this in the Update property and let us know what comes out the other side:

If(!IsBlank(Label1.Text),
    Text(Label1.Text),
    "Error"
)

And in the OnSuccess property of the form put:

Notify("The form submitted!");

Hi @BCLS776 , sorry for the delay in response.

I made the changes as directed, and I do see the "The form submitted!" message when I save the record. 

However the "MerchantID" field remains blank despite having a value in the form prior to saving. No error message.

OK, the output you see indicates the form is submitting successfully and there is something in Label1.Text. Let's focus on what is in the label and see what's going on there.

Somewhere on your screen, before you submit the form, could you add a couple of test labels with the following properties?:

• One, with a Text property of Label1.Text
• Another, with a Text property of Len(Label1.Text)

The first one will give you a visual preview of the string stored in the label and the second one will show the length, in characters, of the string in the label. I am curious if there is a string composed of spaces, or if it has your expected output within it. Let us know!

For testing troubleshooting,create another screen and add new Form with same data source submit and I see what you get 

Added via card default  not textinput and it saves to diffrent sharepoint CustomerID but my list CusID is text

I've entered the test labels, and the Label1.Text output shows the exact string of label1 (the ID "14558"), while the Len(Label1.Text) shows the (correct) nr of characters, "5".

Hmm, I'm missing something here:

• We've proven there is a reasonable value in Label1.Text
• We've proven your form submits successfully
• The code in your Update field looks correct
• The column in the SP list can accept this kind of data
• Yet, the column in your SP list does not show this one value when saving the record

Firstly try your Lookup

LookUp(
   MerchantID, 
   MerchantName= Dropdown2.Selected.Value, 
).MerchantID

Secondly, try the formula directly in the Update of the Data Card - it is possible that the Data Card is updating before the Label is calculating.
Last, please confirm that your target field and Merchant ID are the same field type (Text or Numeric)

I've added the adjusted lookup for the label control as well as the card update field. This appears to work OK when viewing or creating

Still, upon save or update of the record, the MerchantID field shows blank in the list

List name where I am looking up the value is "Merchant ID".

I adjusted your code accordingly:

(The dropdown name is 'Dropdown1'. Not sure why it's showing an error?)
