No data in default CDS

Hi all,

I'm very new to Power Apps, and I'm following the tutorials to study the Power Apps.

But when I use the Accounts in CDS, it shows nothing in my Power Apps, I'm not sure whether there is something I need to install or download firstly, or it's just nothing in default CDS, or my operations are wrong.

No data in default CDS.PNG

Could you please help to explain that?

Thanks and if you have some good learning information about Power Apps, please tell me.

Two things:

1. If you want to try to change the environment, do that on web.powerapps.com before you create a new app and then try again.

2. If there is another environment, and you create an app there but still don't see any data, then you simply may not have data.

In that case, use the new accounts screen in your app to create new accounts (by clicking on the + sign on the 1st screen).

Let me know in case of any questions.

You just need to change the values of the Title/Subtitle/Body labels within your gallery.

By default, those value reflect sample data. Since you now are using Accounts entity, you need the labels to reflect the information pertaining to the Accounts entity.

So go to these labels and change their values to something like ThisItem.'Account Name' or whatever other details you want to show about the accounts.

Let me know in case of any questions.

Just to add to that, click on the red error messages that are visible in the image you attached. And replace the formula with the correct ones.

Let me know if you need some examples. Type ThisItem. and it will give you suggestions. Pick whatever details you want to display in the gallery.

I think the labels are showing the default values of the sample items property of a gallery:

CustomGallerySample.

The labels are most likely showing:

ThisItem.SampleHeading
ThisItem.SampleText

Change these to

ThisItem.'Account Number'

ThisItem.'Account Name'

See pictures attached.

Let me know if this helps.

Are you sure you have data in the Accounts entity. Go to web.powerapps.com ->Data->Entities->Account->Data

Let me know if you see any data here.

Hi @PowerAddict ,

Do I need to insert the data into Account entity by myself?

I can see the Account in my Entities, but it's blank. Is that normal?

That depends on how you set up the environment. There is an option to include sample data. If you selected yes, then you would have had some sample data. If not, then your database will be blank.

You can add some data by creating a form within your canvas app to allow creation for accounts.

I would suggest you create a new app and choose the option Create an app from data, then select the Accounts entity. Doing this will help you start with 3 built in screens, a gallery screen to see the list of accounts, a edit form to update any existing accounts, and a new form to create new accounts.

Let me know if this helps and if you have any questions.

Hi @PowerAddict ,

Thanks for your reply, I have tried to select:

1. Create from data

2. Choose CDS

3.Select Account entity

It has 3 Screens as you said, but the data is blank.

I have checked the environment, it's our company's environment, is that mean I can't change the settings to have sample data?

If I can change, could you please tell me how to make it.

Thanks.
